A great sports movie! The trick is that is not really a ports movie but a character piece about Brian Clough, which is acted by Martin Sheen and he is excellent in the role. My only complain was the ending where he 'learns his lesson' a bit too suddenly for me.

Good movie about obsession and the desire for fame, set against the backdrop of 1970's English soccer. Michael Sheen gives another good performance.

I am a die-hard football fan, but I always found the movies about the topic either too simplistic or just borderline retarded…this one is a bit different and for the better I might add. Before there was Mourinho (who is GOD on earth), there was Brain Clough, that had exactly the same attitude and managed to get Derby County from the bottom of the second division to the premiership title. With a distinct knowledge on what is to conduct a…

    Sports Drama

A British sports film that's based on the true story about a coach of a lower division soccer or "football" team. The film is more about the coach than the team, he is a charismatic out spoken person who manages his team differently and great success follows. But this success comes with a road full of speed bumps along the way. The story isn't told in a straight forward linear fashion, insted it jumps around to different time…

Strong performances throughout from Sheen, Spall and more. The facts may have been put aside for pure drama, but what drama it is.

This engrossing drama about Brian Clough's ill-fated tenure as manager of Leeds United is arguably the best movie about football ever made.

Michael Sheen gives a storming performance as the iconic football coach, with ample support coming from Timothy Spall and Jim Broadbent as Peter Taylor and the Derby County chairman respectively.

The film's main strength is its script, which crackles with wit as well as perfectly conveying the backroom dealings and betrayals that marked 70s football.

    Brilliant.

I really don't know how I feel about this. I really enjoyed watching it, which surprises me because I hate sports, but I'm not sure if I was just on a Michael Sheen high. He was great, but I don't know if I personally really like the movie or not. I would maybe recommend it, but it's not on my list of favorites. It was a pretty good movie though, and this is coming from someone who hates sports, but I don't really hate sports movies, so that might not be worth much to anyone.

It's a rare movie that casts Timothy Spall as the love interest.

Great man, Undone by his ego, Learns what's really important. Connect the dots. Historical inaccuracies not normally important, but replacing reality with something unlikely/illogical/boring is going to be a problem.
