The Debt is about a task force of three that are sent to hunt down a Nazi Doctor that is hiding, once discovered an attempted kidnapping is blotched and the Nazi escapes.  After many years and a cover up that claimed the doctor was killed during the kidnapping, the doctor decides that he wants to come out to expose the Jewish task force that had supposedly killed him as liars.  The film keeps a good tone with enough tension to hold your intrest and good acting for the most part will compel this film for multiple viewings.

Even though watching this film is a truly unforgettable experience, I can't help but be disappointed by the amount of potential that this film had to be even better. I blame the director, as the film had a very confusing beginning that was hard to follow. I don't know if it's just because I'm dumb or because the film was actually really vague, but I feel like if the events in this film were reordered, or if it was more…

There's a great movie in here, but director John Madden (and/or his writers and editor) don't quite find it. The basic plot--a time-hopping story about a Mossad mission in the 60s and its consequences--is pretty compelling, and the three main characters are all very well conceived and developed*. But the Atonement-style twist is much too obvious and makes the film play out far too predictably--the film either needed to hide it better or not hide it at all. This is…

Espionage, Mossad, evil nazi doctor and East-Germany in the 60s. And Helen Mirren. All the makings of a good thriller. Good entertainment.

Gets very slow and even slightly sanctimonious in the middle, making for a plodding forty minutes or so, but otherwise this is quite the interesting and at times exciting movie. Plus it should be watched for its cast, if for no other reason.

You know you're getting old when you would still consider giving Helen Mirren a good seeing to. I like her, she almost always got her bits out in every film she was in back in the early Eighties, so alongside Jenny Agutter she was that older lady who might teach me a thing or two. I've also been a fan of the Royal family for many years, so it would be like killing two birds with one stone. I digress,…

In 1965, Rachel Singer was part of a secret group of Mossad agents tasked with capturing a notorious Nazi war criminal and bringing him to trial. When their escape plans fails and their captive escapes, they create a misleading cover story. Thirty years later, a troubling rumor threatens to reveal their secret. It falls upon Rachel to investigate and relive the traumatic events anew. This is a well-made but ultimately serviceable espionage thriller…
