This is one of Letterboxd Daryl's favourite films and I can see why. Eighties action hero Chuck Norris leads the way in this classic B-movie that is both violent and silly in equal measure.
This is an obvious guilty pleasure for some as it has so much testosterone, machismo and American flag-waving that it almost becomes an early "Hot Shots" parody movie. Sixty-two year old Lee Marvin who died just over a year after this movie was released is Chuck Norris's creaking commander in a role that sees him do little but shout and look hard. I'm a big fan of the grizzled US marine veteran and this his last movie is testament to… -
A definite 6 pinter.
My most watched film of my lifetime.
And if I'm being honest, my most loved.
It is so easy to mock a film of this simple brilliance.
But don't. Just melt into it's absurdity and enjoy . This was a film made to be enjoyed, and definitely in no way was it made with any serious undertones..Surely!?...

Very few films can provoke as much laughter, discussion, and most importantly enjoyment, as The Delta Force. In doing so it raises some thought provoking questions. Like,
Are 15 white dudes in head scarves, crowded round a Land Rover, really undercover?
Would a regiment really delay a hostage rescue mission on the absence of one man?
Can a man just drive his land rover straight onto a military airfield?
The answer to all is a resounding YES. Because this is The Delta Force starring Chuck Norris. A definite 6 pint movie, but its also so much more. It's my most watched film of my lifetime. And if I'm being honest, my most loved.

So yeah, an obvious 5 stars.

“Sleep tight, sucker.”
-Maj. Scott McCoy (Chuck Norris)Today, Sunday 17th March 2013, was set to be just another day. Just another typical, lazy Sunday. But today wasn’t an ordinary Sunday. It’ll all started this morning, when I finally decided to get my lazy ass up. As I laboriously slithered out of bed at precisely 10.51AM, I realised two things. The first was that there was no fucking milk in the house for my breakfast, and the second was that I could and probably should spend today actually doing something of consequence. I could have solved both problems then and there, but didn’t. Instead I decided to do something insane, something so inadvisably stupid even Peter from Family Guy would…

Man, this movie has no idea what it wants to be. Is it a tense hostage drama? Well, for the first 75 minutes, sure! Is it an all-out action movie? Well, for the last 45 minutes, sure! Is it particularly satisfying on either level? On the action part, definitely. The hostage drama? Not so much. Therein lies the rub. Do you want to wade through 2/3rds of the movie with Robert Forster and his crazy-eyed sidekick threatening and backhanding annoying passengers? If you can make it, the third-act action is pretty well-staged and fun enough to make it worth it. But only just barely. I suggest you watch the last 30 minutes of Megaforce instead.

Ahh, Cannon Films. Chuck Norris and Lee Marvin in a Cannon film. This is the deep fried Mars bar of movies.

Produced by animation gurus William Hanna and Joseph Barbera and directed by Menahem Golan, this isn't no Scooby-Doo adventure. It's an adventure featuring Chuck Norris and Lee Marvin heading a special ops team of soldiers, the Delta Force, leading a mission in Beirut to resuce hostages on a plane taken captive by hijackers led by the evil radical idealist Robert Forster.
With a rousing theme by Alan Silvestri and some great action sequences thanks to all the Delta Force, especially Norris as he breaks necks and blasts away with rockets and machine guns, this is great fun and a surprisngly exciting and touching film in places as a sense of religious beliefs comes into play with the hijackers and their…

A surprisingly emotional and relevant action film that resonates even stronger in post-911 America.

Foi durante anos um dos meus filmes preferidos de acção. Mas estamos em 2013 e infelizmente tenho que reconhecer que visto hoje, parece algo ingénuo e mal feito.

Quite awful and over 2 hours to boot.

Riding high on Chuck Norris mania, Cannon Films produced this epic action tale centered on the high-jacking of a U.S. passenger plane in Greece. It is up to the elite “Delta Force”, led by Lee Marvin and his second in command Chuck Norris, to free the hostages and eliminate the Lebanese terrorists.
At over two hours, you could the duo of Golan and Globus were shooting for the stars. Using 1970s disaster movies as a template, the Cannon founders hired a who’s who of past their prime stars to play a variety of hostages, including George Kennedy, Shelly Winters, and Martin Balsam. We are clunkingly introduced to all these characters in the Athens airport, and we find out that a… -
