...............well, shit..........
Don't tell my mates ok?

A fluffy concoction of bitchy emptiness which fails to recognize that it's attempting to walk the line between criticizing the superficial world of fashion and being married to one's job over against relishing the beauty and headiness that comes from being "one of them". It's an evil...
Wait.
Stop.
I can't do it. I can't be snobby and critical about this film. I love everything about it. I love Annie* and Meryl and Emily and Stanley and the clothes and the city and the music. I love the makeovers and Paris and Simon Baker and the shoes. I do not love her boyfriend. He's a jackass, and she would've been well rid of him. There I said it.
* On the commentary track, every time the director and other crewmembers refer to Hathaway, they call her 'Annie'. I like it. -
Great performances from Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway manage to just catch this movie from dropping into the bottomless pit of forgotten rom-coms.
While it's true that having at least a small interest in fashion will enhance this film, it's still got a good solid narrative and sharp enough script to make it enjoyable nonetheless.
Saying that, it is just another fluffy, feel good rom-com and isn't going to change your life. It's good fun though.
I don't think I'll ever truly get bored of it - although it's certainly no more than a once every couple of years affair.

I'm reticent to say this is a chick flick, but I'm sorry it is.
The devil may very well wear Prada but I wouldn't know. The devils in question in my neighborhood wear track suits and try to steal your mobile phone.
Anne Hathaway is turned into a clothes horse in an attempt to impress a surly Meryl Streep. Streep as a bossy-boots,who'd have thought it?Watching this with my wife was torture as she for once started to tell me about some Vogue editor that Streep's character was supposedly based upon. I didn't really get the oohs and aahs that my wife poured out when the fancy clothes came into view and don't dare get her started on the shoes. Stanley Tucci aside this wasn't for me and although Emily Blunt kept my attention it couldn't sustain my interest. -
Wintour would be both very angry and very proud. Meryl Streep turns a character that could be easily 2D and adds emotional weight behind her, even just for the small cracks in her ice queen persona. Excellent.

A movie that I've seen before but can always come back to. I laughed, I cried then laughed some more. I'm a sucker for chick flicks but this one makes me think about how far some people will go to achieve greatness.

A naive young woman comes to New York and scores a job as the assistant to one of the city's biggest magazine editors, the ruthless and cynical Miranda Priestly.

a movie about a streak of bad luck

Every time I watch this I spend most of it freaked out by Simon Baker's eyebrows.
