Synopsis
It's All About.....ME!
Kuzco is a self-centered emperor who summons Pacha from a village and to tell him that his home will be destroyed to make room for Kuzco's new summer home. Kuzco's advisor, Yzma, tries to poison Kuzco and accidentally turns him into a llama, who accidentally ends up in Pacha's village. Pacha offers to help Kuzco if he doesn't destroy his house, and so they form an unlikely partnership.

Clever and spirited, "The Emperor's New Groove" is fully committed entertainment. Lovely animation and lively vocal performances fuel this effort that may not rank with Disney's very best, but is definitely worthy of admiration.

This film is a lot funnier than it's given credit for. A ridiculous idea turned into a fun and quirky 80 minutes with some pretty hilarious moments. Some great voice talents and some really well done animation.
Will never be one of Disney's best, but certainly a very good film in it's own right.
And I never did complete the Goddamn PC Video Game.

Perfectly cast, and plotted almost as immaculately as Pixar's finest. I'd believe that someone had help from Chuck Jones, frankly. It's also graceful enough to wrap up in about an hour and fifteen minutes — not that I wouldn't enjoy more, but there's no padding.
This has to be a career high point for Warburton, Spade, and Kitt; Goodman's only off that list because he's worked with the Coen brothers.
Not the funniest moment, but the best example of the farcical third-wall-breaking spirit: When the action on film catches up with the narration, and the character onscreen argues with the voiceover.

Where do you begin with a movie like The Emperor's New Groove? Disney, this is your lowest point and the worst thing you have ever produced to date.
Emperor Kuzco is an annoying, selfish, spoiled, stupid, dumb, intrepid, ugly, whiny, overindulged, moronic, bloated, inane, idiotic, heartless and bitchy 18-year old Emperor of the Inca Empire. As he's one day planning to destroy a village and drive innocent Pacha and his family away from it to build himself a pool, his newly fired advisor Yzma and her dumb beefcake sidekick Kronk attempt to poison him, but they fail, turning him into a llama. This film is ridiculous, but in a safe and fun way. It's a slapstick take on the classic premise of a snotty prince that learns to have a heart. Not overly memorable, but definitely hilarious. It's fairly clean, also - just a bit of immodesty and one or two subtle sexual jabs. Not a must-see, but fun.

The Emperor's New Groove feels more like a Looney Tune than a Disney film, and because of that, it's probably Disney's funniest film. Hysterical script, top-notch voicework, and great animation, it's everything you could want in an animated comedy.

This movie did the seemingly impossible. It made me laugh at David Spade. Add on some great slapstick, and it's easily one of the best from Disney's post-renaissance period.
