“I'm seeing things that aren't real. I'm seeing things I shouldn't see. I'm dreaming things I've never seen. This surgery was supposed to make me normal.”
-Sydney Wells (Jessica Alba)Second serving on the remake platter over the past couple of days, with a helping of The Eye (2008), a remake of the 2002 Asian horror of the same name, from Hong Kong/Singapore.
First off, I must declare my unabashed love for the original Asian film upon which this butchery is based. I loved the first Eye (Gin gwai) movie. I thoroughly enjoyed the second Eye (Gin gwai 2) outing. Hell, I even had tons of fun watching The Eye 3, or The Eye: Infinity, or Gin gwai 10 whatever…

Not as bad as I expected. It's alright for what it is, but comes absolutely nowhere even remotely close to the level of sheer terror of the original, which I would say is the most frightening movie I have ever seen, without question.

This was a decent thriller/horror/whatever about a blind woman who gets an eye transplant and begins seeing strange things.
I have to say I didn't have very much expectation for this film going into it, so maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much. It wasn't great and in more capable hands, it might have been, but it was good for a watch once. The ending was severely lacking, but the rest of it fulfilled its purpose of entertaining me.http://letterboxd.com/eli12345/list/march-movie-madness/detail/

Faithful remake of the excellent Pang Brothers ghost story by the guys behind Them, which brings this chilling tale to the Western masses who don't like reading subtitles. Few shocks for those who've seen the original, but it's functional and does the job. Jessica Alba is in just about every scene but struggles to convince us that she's a professional violinist. Or blind. Also look out for a very young Chloe Moretz!

Foruten den amerikanske The Ring…

As far as horror films go, this is actually one that sticks in my memory. There are one or two genuinely scary bits and the plot, for once, is actually reasonably inventive.
That said, it's still dull, bland and thoroughly boring. I've come to the conclusion that horrors like this are aimed at 15 year old girls at sleepovers.

Another bland, dull Hollywood remake of an asian horror.
