The Forgotten
2004 Directed by Joseph Ruben
Synopsis
Nine-year-old Sam Paretta is dead, killed in a plane crash. Even though it's been fourteen months since the accident, his mother Telly (Julianne Moore) still grieves over the loss. Suddenly her husband (Anthony Edwards) swears they never had a child and her psychiatrist (Gary Sinise) insists she's delusional. But worst of all, there is absolutely no evidence to prove Sam ever existed.

Plays off like a poor episode of the "X-Files." Not much to like here. It's a tiny bit interesting at the beginning when you think Moore is crazy, then the explanation appears and boredom sets in.
When the movie ended, I realized I might have seen this movie before, but sadly it had been - forgotten.

What started as a promising film lost it's way when it decided to turn into a shit episode of the x-files. If you're clearly a bit mental don't bring Aliens into the frame.

Uhm, what was this movie about again???? I forgot... :(

This felt more like a tv show then a movie. I must admit, I'm still a little confused about the twist at the end as to why someone or something would go through so much just to prove that a mother could forget their child if need be. Though there was scene in this movie that made my fiancé jump about 10 feet so that made up for the lack of story.

Really weird film, but my underlying memory is the 'WHAT' that came from my wife (who thought she was watching a movie about a woman coming to terms with the loss of a child, or maybe a movie about an elaborate abduction) who suddenly realised I'd hoodwinked her into watching a sci-fi film when people start getting sucked into the sky. Funny, very very funny,,,!!

6.0/10
Two strong leading performances by Julianne Moore and Dominic West helped to make half-decent a movie that otherwise would have been almost unwatchable. The Forgotten's initial premise is quite interesting and actually it worked very well during the first 30 minutes or so, but once the supernatural element was added to story, the whole film lost credibility and became very confusing. It would have worked much better as a regular thriller instead of a supernatural one. However, the movie continued being entertaining.

For the most part, the film is pretty engaging. Managed to keep me on the edge for almost its run. Then came the climatic revelation, and it pretty much sucked.
