The moment Milla Jovovich walks on screen and talks to the camera I lost interest. They really needed to choose either the real footage or the stuff they filmed. The split screen of both stuff going on was annoying and the police stand off scene with the four screens which were moving all over the place was the worst thing ever.

So strictly speaking The Fourth Kind isn’t totally found footage either, it’s just a loose (very loose) adaptation of supposedly true events. It follows an unsolved mystery in Alaska, where one town has seen an extraordinary number of unexplained disappearances during the past 40 years. It’s a pretty good concept, and this is a pretty good film for the most part.
The way the ‘real’ footage is spliced in with the recreations is pretty cool, though sometimes it can feel distracting and remove the immersion. Using this footage sometimes works very well, creating an unsettling atmosphere of…

The film that takes "based on true events" to extremes. A very over-dramatic that gets down right silly as it progresses. Maybe this film would be received better if the director said it was all a dream Mila Jovovich's character from Resident Evil was having while waiting for the next film to come out...

I can’t really comment on this film as I switched it off after 10 minutes. I dunno, I just didn’t like the film’s approach - mixing real life interviews with staged recreations of events (using Milla Jovovich and Elias Koteas) in Alaska where the locals are convinced that alien abductions are taking place. No sir, I don’t like it.

A weird amalgam of documentary and drama that from the first scene with Mila Jovovich addressing the camera, sets out to provide absolutely no satisfaction for either camp.
As a documentary, despite the ostensibly real archive footage, there is a lack of dot connecting and what evidence is provided is undermined by the Hollywood drama which highlights just what playing fast and loose with camera trickery can do. Nowhere is there any hint of further research with the interview providing the spine, flimsy as it may be, for the film.
As a drama the story lacks any kind of punch with the seemingly level-headed psychologist lead breaking into a gibbering loon after a clutch of coincidences and two psychotic breaks.…

Pese a una desastrosa campaña de Marketing, "The Fourth Kind" es sin duda la película más inquietante y terrorífica sobre el tema de abducciones. Impresionante final.

I actually abandoned this movie about half an hour in.

Genuinely not that genuine. Although I don't mind films masquerading as true stories, this annoyed me due to the extensive use of "authentic footage".

Weird and creepy, but pretty much forgettable in the end... And that woman with creepy alien eyes in the cutscenes -> WTF ?! {o,0}

Ehm... I don't really know what to think about this... It's a pretty decent movie and a part of me thinks: is it true? for real? But hey! we all know that the videos and the images are fake, so... Anyway, I feel a bit weird right now xD

Milla Jovovich was very good, and I liked the ambition of setting the film up as though it was a real story and inserting 'real' footage, however it felt a little silly and implausible, and lost my interest by the end.
