Ewan Mcgregor soll als Ghostwriter die halbfertigen Memoiren des schmierigen Ex-Premierministers Pierce Brosnan überarbeiten. Halbfertig, weil sich bereits vorher ein anderer daran versucht hat. Doch dieser starb unter mysteriösen Umständen. Der Ghostwriter recherchiert dabei auch eigenständig und stößt auf einige Unstimmigkeiten...
Einer meiner absoluten Lieblingsfilme und knapp mein Favorit von Polanski. Habe selten einen edlereren Film gesehen.

A slow-moving thriller that should be boring, but isn't. This movie has great, subtle camera-work and outstanding set design. Masterfully directed.

This is the perfect movie. Incredible acting and storytelling. This is a thriller, there are ao many subtle hints along the way fodeshadowing what the main character chooses to ignore. A tethered goat.

Loved that movie from the first to the last minute. Especially liked the silence and slowly tempo of story telling. One of these movies I can watch again and again.

The Ghost Writer is an excellent thriller that works mainly because Roman Polanski is at the helm of the project. I don`t think this story would have been so gripping or suspenseful if it was put in any other director`s hands, but Polanski has such a fatalistic view of the world that he knows how to create these dark and tense situations…

An aide of the former British prime minister who at the time was writing the PM's memoirs dies under mysterious circumstances. A new writer is hired to complete the leader's memoirs. As soon as he takes the job a scandal erupts when the PM is accused of being a war criminal. As the new writer investigates he finds out that the PM's past that could put his life in danger and might have cost the life of the person he replaced. An intelligent political thriller from Roman Polanski.

This is the story of the writer who was hired by a well-known politician to write his "autobiography". "Ghost Writers" are unknown to anyone, they do not exist. Very intriguing story for intellectuals.
