An old girlfriend loved this movie and made me watch it every weekend with her. Nobody should have to suffer that sort of torture for the offchance they might get a blowjob. That's just cruel.

What sounds terribly average on paper is elevated into something more than you'd think by a great cast and several clever ideas. The Girl Next Door is not brilliant but due to these factors remains a fairly pleasant experience and while I do think it's a little too long I don't regret watching it.
Emile Hirsch is a fantastic actor and while this doesn't showcase his entire range he definitely puts in a lot more effort than you'd expect from a middle-of-the-road comedy like this and is, together with Elisha Cuthbert, they key for this to work as well as it does and I applaud him for this because not every actor would've done the same.

No, I'm not gonna review this film. I just came to pimp out one of the best shows on tv that not many people watch....
If you ever questioned Elisha Cuthbert's talent, I would like to redirect you to Happy Endings.
So watch it. Every episode. Starting right now
It's AMAH-ZING!!

Lightly charming, with a wholesome tone and a genuinely threatening villain in Timothy Olyphant. Elisha Cuthbert not as terrible an example of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl as I remembered. (Unrated Cut.)

Dumb as hell, but it's still a reasonable amount of fun to watch.

I adore coming-of-age films, but for reasons unbeknownst to me I also really enjoy films set in American high schools. Perhaps its the unusual (to me) yet familiar setting and the stock characters that this allows for, but there's just something about these sorts of films that I find myself innately enjoying. I also find The Girl Next Door resonates on a more personal level for me - as a socially inept gawky teenager growing up I longed for the day when a beautiful woman would sweep into my life and make things fun and exciting. Of course it never happened, but I got to experience this vicariously through The Girl Next Door instead. I think Emile Hirsch is a…

I remember seeing this at an early sneak preview, and I dunno, it just hit all the right notes for me somehow. I had never seen Risky Business, so I couldn't tell how much it did or didn't rip off from that movie, but I just really found myself relating to a guy who was heading off to college but felt like he missed out on a true high school experience. Of course I couldn't relate to having a porn star move in next door, but whatever. This is also where I really first took notice of Timothy Olyphant, who of course is completely awesome (I guess he didn't leave much of an impression in Dreamcatcher).

It takes The Girl Next Door title to a whole 'nother level. I saw this film for the first time and I was surprised by how good it was. I just imagined another average high school comedy about a guy perving on the girl next door and unrealistically getting her. However, it ends up making sense, and it's a lot deeper than just some smart guy going after a pornstar. It's definitely unforgettable when it comes to the comedy genre.

A Movie Every Year Since I was Born
Movie #20 2004
Pretty average teen movie, found myself laughing now and again. I actually thought the cast was very good.
Final thoughts for this one predictable but entertaining

actually a sweet movie.

Fun enough sex romp.
-
One star for the lead actress, one star for Mr Olyphant and one star for a rather good soundtrack. Zero points for story originality and character development. Final verdict: approved by the "Elisha Cuthbert Admiration Society"!

Funnier then I expected. I remembering seeing the trailer when I was 6 thinking it was something totally different then I watch. Actually got my laughing this OBVIOUS sex comedy didn't have the "best" acting, but that doesn't take away that this is a teen movie.

I'll be honest. I only rented this because of the hot chick on the cover of the video box. It was funny and a little better than I expected.
