There are many fantastic trilogies in film, but for me The Godfather trilogy is the best (even considering the sub par part III) Each film brings together a phenomenal ensemble cast to tell the tale of the Corleone family's rise to power and the toll this takes on each of them. The cinematography, the score, all elements of the films work together to make some of the most perfect "gangster" movies to which others aspire.
Part I shows Michael reluctantly taking over the family business. The juxtaposition of him becoming a Godfather to his nephew as he "takes care of family business" creates on one of the most powerful ending to a film ever.

This is actually a review for "The Godfather Saga", the 1977 chronological edit of the first two films with 75 minutes of extra footage added back in. I'd add it into the system, but I just don't feel like going through that whole process again right now. The Godfather trilogy, that was based on a best-selling novel by Mario Puzo, has been acclaimed the greatest gangster epic due to several reasons starting from the awesome film script, impeccable casts, perfect scoring and the meticulously detailed setting, costumes, props, tradition, look and mise-en-scene, all resulted in the authentic visualization of real Italian gangster film of all time. While most people consider part III as a failure, I keep thinking that it's…

This was my first watch of The Godfather, and before this day I had no idea of what this boxset had in store for me. I thought we could get through movie number one, but when I realized that they combined all the movies into one long ass movie… We settled in for a really long weekend. The Godfather trilogy is about the rise to power of Vito Corleone, then the take over of the family name and business to his youngest son, then ending with his ultimate death and his handing the name down again. Growing up, I never had any interest in watching these films but it wasn’t until my twitter days have I started to expand my…
