The Grudge is an American film series from Sony Pictures which is based on the Japanese Ju-on series created by Takashi Shimizu, The first film in the series is a remake of Ju-On: The Grudge which follows the same similar storyline of the original japanese film with only a different ending. As stated by Takashi Shimizu in an interview the sequel to the American remake, The Grudge 2 is not a remake of Ju-On: The Grudge 2 and follows a different storyline, the most recent sequel The Grudge 3 picks up after the events of the second film officialy marking that The Grudge film series follows a different storyline than the Ju-On franchise.
