The Haunting in Connecticut
2009 Directed by Peter Cornwell
Synopsis
When the Campbell family moves to upstate Connecticut, they soon learn that their charming Victorian home has a disturbing history: not only was the house a transformed funeral parlor where inconceivable acts occurred, but the owner's clairvoyant son Jonah served as a demonic messenger, providing a gateway for spiritual entities to crossover.

It's always nice to see Virginia Madsen in a starring role; I just wish it was under better circumstances. I thought her star turn in Sideways would've led to some better roles, but alas here she is slumming it in yet another lame PG13 excuse for a Hollywood horror film.
Madsen plays Sara Campbell, mother to terminal cancer patient Matt (Kyle Gallner), and wife to a recovering drunk (Martin Donovan), who moves her family into a house in Connecticut so they can be closer to the hospital where her son receives his treatment. Of course the house is haunted, which provokes an endless stream of jump scares accompanied by loud bursts of noise that don't so much build to anything…

I think the only person that enjoyed this film was the guy Who appeared to be getting a BJ in the 4th row seats.

Your son is seeing things, he is going through a terrifyingly rough time and where do you let him sleep?....... the Victorian funeral home basement which is connected to an old laboratory. Its a bit better than The Unborn which I saw earlier today but this still is a horror which is forgettable and dumb. Some of the visuals are decent and some of the jump scares effective (but far too frequent) but its another horror which suffers from a predictable and stupid narrative are far too many clichés. Surprisingly, for a film based around Victorian spooks (I find Victorian ghost stories the creepiest), I was completely unfazed by the scares and story so much so that I got incredibly bored. Overall, its not the worst I have seen but its a very dull, predictable and silly horror which is hugely forgettable.

So my Halloween movie marathon continues and tonight its The Haunting In Connecticut.
This one has been in my DVD collection longer than I care to tell, a few years before this film came out I watched a documentary on the true story of which this movie is based on. That documentary was a lot better than what this movie was.
Although this wasn't a bad movie in my eyes it wasn't exactly the greatest either. Some parts I enjoyed and other parts were just a waste of time and money put into the film.
I liked it but it had a more potential to be better seeing as I found the actual story very interesting.

Yeah, I slept with the light on.

This was an awful film, and not even in the "it's so bad, it's good" way. It was just bad.
