The Human Condition is a 9 and a half hour long film journey that I personally hail as the greatest film ever made.
I'm not even sure where to begin. As the title suggests the film has a underlying psychology about the human condition. Accompanied with some of the best acting put on screen by Tatsuya Nakadai, he was able to fully express and show this development of the human psyche while experiencing some of the harshest treatment and hardships a man can face. This will be the third time I watched this grandiose film experience and every time it still breaks my heart by the end of the movie. It's a emotional odyssey with its message rising above any…

A harrowing, relentlessly depressing 10 hour saga of a naive pacifist, set during World War II in Japanese occupied Manchuria, this series of films, broken down into much easier to digest parts, 6 in total, is certainly a masterpiece of cinema.
If it has any fault, it's that its message is aimed squarely at a japanese audience and so might be lost on others if you're not paying attention.
Worth a watch if you can stomach it.
