Yes, I know. It was on, I half-watched it.
This is a very silly movie. Either they need to just get Paul Verhoeven to do these sort of films, or, more intriguingly, Hollywood should just get a high-schooler to direct it. I'm serious. At least it would have a fighting chance at sincerity.

Better than Twilight. That's all you wanted to hear, isn't it? It is. Jennifer Lawrence may be one of the coolest young actors out there right now, but even though she's stuck with a rather blank character to play in Katniss she still holds your attention throughout a somewhat by-th-numbers dystopian tale.
Not to say 'Hunger Games' is bad - it does skimp on set design somewhat (apart from a handful of scenes, lots of locations seem rather washed out…

Rewatched this a while back, the same day I watched Children of Men, but never bothered to log it. I mildly enjoyed this movie the first time I saw it, just due to not knowing what was going to happen and being invested in Jennifer Lawrence's character and etc., but fuck the pacing in this movie was so aggravating this time around. Decent film in its own right, although a little sluggish in places. Seems to show relationships which have been built off camera, which I guess you get to see more of in the book, but once you accept those, it works very well.
