I've always been interested in what other people are seeing and watching, and naturally, I love looking at Weekend Box…
How do you stop an assassin who has no identity?
Hired by a powerful member of the Russian mafia to avenge an FBI sting that left his brother dead, the perfectionist Jackal proves an elusive target for the men charged with the task of bringing him down: a deputy FBI boss and a former IRA terrorist.
It's like instant coffee, really.
A quick fix but not even in the same universe as the real deal.
This reaks of the 1990s in every way possible. Still, the movie is watchable for two reasons.
1. Jack Black
2. Bruce Willis kissing a female hostage on the forehead, whilst holding her from behind.
This actually isn't that bad, considering what I see of its reception. If it runs shorter than the bloated 2 hours, The Jackal might actually be a legitimately good dumb fun. As it is, the length makes all the illogical stuff, especially concerning Bruce Willis' character, stand out more, and after a while the hide-found-run cycle grows very repetitive. It is never less than watchable though, due to the kinetic direction and the cast's charisma (Willis, Richard Gere, Sidney Poitier, Diane Venora, and Jack Black, that poor soul of a character).
This movie opens with a 90's euro club scene and has Bruce Willis parading around in a
bunch of cute outfits and hairstyles, so I'm into it.
It's actually pretty silly (eg: Richard Gere's "accent", the "gun-ordering computer program"?, Jack Blacks cameo) but oddly entertaining!
Bruce Willis and Richard Gere stare intensely at each other on several occasions.
an ordinary movie but Richard Gere is not an action actor and Bruce Willis never believed in this picture........you can see it while you are watching this movie!
Bruce Willis fez um excelente vilão, apesar de ser o vilão da história eu senti uma grande empatia pelo personagem, isso deve-se ao facto do actor ser excelente!
Strangely engaging but utterly worthless 90's Hollywood action tripe.
Only worth watching for the unexpected pre-stardom performances from JK Simmons & Jack Black. Bruce Willis's comedy stick-on mustache is worth a nod, too. He should have rocked that look in more movies.
Also features one of the most horrible pieces of green screen I've ever seen, as Richard Gere orgasms between two speeding subway trains.
Has to be seen to be believed.
This review reportedly contains spoilers. I can handle the truth.
The Jackal is directed by Michael Caton-Jones and stars Bruce Willis, Richard Gere,Sidney Poitier and Diane Venora. The Jackal is about an imprisoned IRA sniper who's freed to help stop a brutal, seemingly "faceless" assassin from completing his next job.
The Jackal has an interesting plot, but it isn't well executed. Bruce Willis is surprisingly a good villain. And Sidney Poitier is being Sidney Poitier. Richard Gere pulls of a great Irish accent, but the movie is pretty forgettable for the rest.
The acting of the supporting cast pretty dull and especially J.K. Simmons. He has come a long way since then.
The movie ends like all 90s action movies end, with the anti hero getting redemption.
The Jackal is a typical 90s action/crime movie and gets 2.5/5 stars.
Really good movie
Average spy thriller with not much of interest. Except maybe for fat Bruce Willis.
Action film reliant on a stolen idea, Mr Willis's array of wigs and a procession of cliches.
An enjoyable thriller with one of Willis' stronger performances (and Gere's weaker accents). J K Simmons hasn't aged a day!
Bruce Willis just kissed a lil gay man!
I love Hitmen and Assassins. If they are the main focus of the film, it's almost always awesome. I don't…
Here is what I hope will be an exhaustive list of film remakes.
If i have missed any, or make…
