It's like instant coffee, really.
A quick fix but not even in the same universe as the real deal.

This reaks of the 1990s in every way possible. Still, the movie is watchable for two reasons.
1. Jack Black
2. Bruce Willis kissing a female hostage on the forehead, whilst holding her from behind. -

The Jackal is a pretty mindless action movie that I probably wouldn't have seen if it wasn't for the fact that it starred Richard Gere and Bruce Willis who are two brilliant actors. It's definitely flawed but I couldn't help but enjoy it none-the-less. Easily the best thing about this movie is Bruce Willis' performance. He makes for a great villain. He's very quiet and calm so when he kills his victims it's very unexpected. As the movie goes on he does more and more disgusting things. Some may say it's an over the top performance and in some ways, there right. However because the rest of the movie is just mindless action fare, he seems to fit right in.…

No point comparing this to the classic Day of the Jackal - it's not a remake, just borrows one character concept.
That aside, the risky casting of Willis and Gere makes it watchable and it has good pacing
Best thing is seeing Sidney Poitier - such a charismatic screen presence -

This is still one of the best Bruce Willis films I have ever seen!

Ridiculous wigs for Bruce.

I loved this film as a kid... but it is so unexciting and boring, I have no idea how it held my attention.
