The Lincoln Lawyer is a 2011 neo-noir legal thriller film that is adapted from the 2005 novel of the same name by Michael Connelly. The Lincoln Lawyer is directed by Brad Furman and stars Matthew McConaughey as the main lawyer and William H. Macy, Ryan Phillippe, Marisa Tomei, Josh Lucas and Bryan Cranston all in supporting roles. On a budget on $40 million, The Lincoln Lawyer grossed $87.10 million and a certified fresh score of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Lincoln Lawyer marked the resurgence of Matthew McConaughey's career and boy was it a good one, he's fantastic as the main character Mick Haller a defence lawyer who works his cases out of his Lincoln, hence the name of the…
While for you True Detective was the pinnacle of the McConaugheyssance or "Dallas Buyer's Club," many will actually agree this is where everything began... and I can clearly see why.
This movie catches everything we've come to adore and expect out of this actor. The amazing, chill out vibe mix with some actual great performances. Altogether in one pack. Also long forgotten teen actor Ryan Philippe gives a very good performance, in a work reminiscent of his edgier days back on "Cruel Intentions." The rest of the cast is very good.
The style of the film at first strike me as cheap, but as the movie went on I actually get to love this nice blend of CSI: Miami flashy…
I hate ugly looking movies, doesn't matter how good the film may be, and this one wasn't even good.
Not bad! I didn't think a tongue-in-cheek legal drama was something I needed in my life but this turned out to be smooth Friday night viewing - a procedural thriller with attitude! A lot of what makes it work is down to Matthew McConaughey, who stars as dodgy defense attorney Mick Haller, who since losing his license, has taken to working out of the back of his black Lincoln Town Car. Haller's evolution from cocksure, charismatic man about town to a guy on the edge, rattled and sweating bullets, is a joy to behold. The player gets played, big time, and needs to come up with some moves fast or it's game over. It all starts with taking on the…
Alright, Alright, Alright.
An engaging legal drama anchored by Matthew McConaughey's charismatic performance as the titular lawyer, his portrayal as the lead lawyer injects charisma into the film, keeping me hooked as the story unfolds with its twists and turns. His performance adds depth to the character, making the legal intricacies more compelling to follow.
However, while the film maintains a good pace and delivers the expected suspense, it falls short in terms of originality and depth. Some plot developments felt a bit predictable, missing the opportunity to surprise and elevate the storytelling.
Nonetheless, McConaughey's presence and the well-paced plot ensure an enjoyable viewing experience for legal drama enthusiasts like myself. It's definitely worth a watch for those seeking an engaging evening's entertainment in the realm of legal thrillers.
Back when I completely lost myself in the wonderful wide world of legal thriller novels, I had two primary favorite authors: John Grisham and Michael Connelly. Grisham provided the overwhelmingly pessimistic realist's view of the slow moving life of the legal profession (as he is a former lawyer), while Connelly gave me more of a thrilling and fictionalized view of the life of a lawyer through his sizzling, fast talking protagonist Mickey Haller. I always found Connelly's version of the legal profession to be much more entertaining, which makes sense, because the sensationalized lives that fictional lawyers lead is absolutely nothing like the mundane paperwork-laden world of the real legal profession. Nevertheless, Connelly's legal thrillers always kept me intrigued, and…
