There's no way you can pause this film, so be sure to take a piss before starting it.

This is a movie for the intellect. I couldn't believe a movie so simple like this could be so mind-blowing. 11/10.

Horrible production, acting and cinematography. The script? Holy malony, potatoes in the oven. Made my brain all mushy and stuff.
If you have the patience, the discipline and the brain capacity I recommend this movie for you.

The dialogue filled, single setting narrative boasts an interesting concept, but it's content is not as intelligent as it desperately wishes to be.
The cheap actors in this low budget production fail to capture their intellectual characters and deliver them with any realism.
-
Interesting concept, god-awful execution. The wooden acting, ridiculous character reactions, and unnecessary twist ending make this film not worth the slice of your limited life.
-
A perfect WOW Script. Must watch indeed!

Smart and entertaining, but definitely a movie for those interested in a dialogue-heavy thought experiment blossoming out, slowly, into a really wonderful story. A wonderfully small piece of science fiction.

'The Man from Earth' definitely would have been more suited to the stage, and was in fact adapted to it years later. Most films don't survive the technical problems that arose with this one. In the end, it was the script and the hands it landed into that saved it. Imagine if you will a visual recollection of one man's adventurous and mysterious past. It's not that hard to do, is it? We've seen this plenty of times. It's almost been beaten black and blue. Instead, we get a down-to-earth, low-key gathering of a group of colleagues discussing that same man's past, exploring the philosophical issues of mortality, empirical evidence, and religious faith. It's a nice change of pace for a work of science fiction from the fast-paced saga filled with explosions and laser beams. Go ahead and throw 'The Man from Earth' in your queue.

Great dialogue + bad acting + cheesy music + blasphemy = please make a remake with Philip Seymour Hoffman as the professor and a host of better actors. Keep Tony Todd though...

excelent script but it was shot like a fucking student film
maybe it actually was a student film

This bargain budget sic-fi film is the kind that only an independent studio would care to distribute. There are no shiny special effects, no critters bursting out of chests, no heart light or phoning home. This is a thinking person's movie, one that appeals to those who have some education. At the center of the story is a History professor. He gathers his friends, fellow teachers of other disciplines and even a student. At his cabin he confesses that he is a caveman who has survived these many years, somehow escaping death. His friends, mostly being of rational temperaments, demand proof and what follows is a question and answer scenario in which the nature of immortality is explored. Is he…

Would have made an excellent audiobook, too!

Strips science fiction down to its bare necessities. A fascinating, far-fetched idea stretched out, dissected and examined by a bunch of scientists in somebody's living room. Sound boring? Don't worry, it's not. A refreshing, breathless experiment.
