Part of midnight movie madness
I had forgotten how unbelievably funny Steve Martin used to be, especially in the eighties.
This wonderfully lighthearted take on those '50s mad scientist science fiction films is equal parts silly and absurd. Reiner seems to understand Martin's talent for physical comedy and mimicry really well and uses it to its fullest extent.
The film balances the wonderfully bizarre and an engaging plot really well and it caught me in fits of uncontrollable laughter more often than not.
Most definitely one of Martin's best.

Into the mud, scum-queen.

Comedy Gold- Carl Reiner's The Man with Two Brains is probably Steve Martin's finest hour. Martin plays Dr. Hfuhruhurr famed for the zip-lock, strew-top brain surgery who falls for Kathleen Turner's money grabbing "scum queen", Look out for David Warner's scientist and his jars of many brains who might be the answer to the Doctors problem...Classic Martin. Classic Comedy.

A bit of a gem and nothing quite like it. A mixture of comedy and poetry!

Most of the humor is just pure silliness, but it works well because Steve Martin is very skilled at being silly without seeming silly. When he performs an excessively elaborate sobriety test, there’s not one hint from him that he’s making an effort at getting a laugh. Where a lot of comedians would mug for the camera or ham it up for the laugh, Martin plays it straight and gets an even bigger laugh by making the absurd seem natural. With the gag-a-minute nature of the movie, it adds up to a funny film, if perhaps not on the level of The Jerk. Read full review.

A zany Steve Martin and Carl Reiner film. Many of the jokes don't quite land, and the third act should've been rewritten, but when it's funny, it's very funny. Works more as a series of skits rather than a feature length film.
