where did this Roel Reiné guy come from? wider coverage and cutting tight for clarity rather than speed. i even like the CG-assisted single-take sequences. use any tool you can, just use it effectively. brisk and violent (chunky, practical squibs too). sorry to get be so robotic and technical about it but it's refreshing to see such a clean, efficient genre picture. ten times the DIE HARD knockoff OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN could ever be.

Spotted about 11 military-accuracy errors in the first 5 minutes (and plenty more nitpicks later on), but then I realized that I didn't give a fuck any longer about those minor weaknesses so long as the action was clean & pretty and the lead badass's motivations were dirty & pretty.
THE MARINE 1 was one of the worst movies I've ever seen; this outstanding, artistically unrelated sequel repents for the sins the father movie would visit upon the son movie, and then some.

Has one hell of a nice continuous fight with excellent sense of length, timing and physicality (both with the environment and the performers. Sort of reminded me of The Raid except TM2 is shorter, isn't incredibly repetitive and doesn't throw environmental interaction in your face every three minutes.

This movie is in quite a strange place for me. I preferred it to its predecessor. Why is that strange? The first movie in the franchise of The Marine was a theatrical release. This one is direct to video. It should not be better than the first, but it is. The acting is on par with the first one. The story has more weight to it. The antagonists are not complete dumb-asses. And the direction is an improvement. I don't know what else to say. This is just a better movie.

All I have to say about this film is that if you're the son of the Million Dollar Man, and this is your big shot at movie stardom, don't you think you should spend a little extra money so you can have more realistic explosions?

I remember this film for one kick ass continuous action shot, and some other brutal fights. Nice little film, but avoid if you're a pretentious film viewer....
