1st film of The December Project
The last (sadly) film of the Jarle Klepp-story goes back to before the beginning, telling the story of Jarle and his father, when they both carried the last name "Orheim". Part coming-of-age and finding yourself, part family drama and part Jarle dealing with his past in the present, this final entry in the trilogy provides wonderful characters struggling with life and living, though in a very different way than the two first.
Kristoffer Joner steals the show as the sweet, but alcoholic and troubled, father, with all the other actors delivers fantastic, realistic, performances. It's very well-written and the direction is fine, switching, like Joner, between touching, dark and menacing, regret and a will…
One of the best films I have seen from Norway and a great take on alcoholism and what it does to families and especially the children. This is the third film in a trilogy about Jarle and the best of the 3. One does not have to see the other two before seeing this one. Strongly recommended!
for me this wasn't as engaging as the other jarle klepp movies, but still just as solid!
unfortunately i was very distracted by the change in actors for the parents. fun fact jarle's father here is played by the same actor that played the drag hairdresser in the first movie, kristoffer joner can do it all
This is the last movie of Jarle Klepp's trilogy. Before watching this movie, I had no idea it was a trilogy. So I watched the last movie first. After finding out, it is actually a trilogy, I watched the first two movies of it. Fortunately, watching this one first didn't make me confused at all because it is completely a throwback film to Jarle's adolescence. The things, that happened in Jarle's adolescence, happened before the first movie of the triology. So, maybe it is better to watch the last one first. Anyway, this movie focuses on family relationship of Jarle's adolescence. Apparently, Jarle recalls how his family life was during his teenage years, after he gets informed by his mother…
