Never mind the fact Woody Harrelson gives another incredible performance like he usually does. Who would have thought Courtney Love, the woman that so many people call a cracked out whore, would do such a great job playing a cracked out whore?

The acting in this film contains several of the most flawless performances that I've ever seen.
A personal favorite of mine.

When this popped up on Starz I was psyched since it had been at least 7 or 8 years since I last saw it. I was actually working in a theater as a teen when this was released, and I saw it at least 3 or 4 times while it was at the theater, so I was a huge fan of it.
The acting in this film might be the best thing about it. although the script is quite amazing as well, the performances from Woody, Norton and with probably the biggest surprise to me, Courtney Love, were ridiculously great. Woody Harrelson has his finest performance of his career IMO. His portrayal of Larry Flynt was awesome, and this film… -
I absolutely adore this movie and one of the reasons I adore it is that two very awesome people are acting in it; Woody Harrelson and Courtney Love. Courtney did a gret job acting Althea but she is a very talented person so it's not a big surprise. The only reason people never give her enough credit for anything is because obviously it's very amusing to think she's just some stupid crack whore who killed Kurt Cobain blablabla........bulshit. Anyway this movie totally kicks ass on so many levels.

Woody Harrelson is hilarious!
Courtney Love is nasty, but she played the part well.
I was honestly surprised that I liked this movie as much as I did.

THE PEOPLE VS. LARRY FLYNT is another superb bio pic from Milos Forman, the director of AMADEUS. The writers of ED WOOD, Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, create a wonderfully rich story, which depicts the life of the porn giant to be full of humor, tragedy, and passion. Forman has a knack for directing this excellent ensemble cast, much like he did with ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST. Woody Harrelson and Edward Norton are excellent in their roles, which really is no surprise. However, the surprise comes form the stand-out performance by Courtney Love as Flynt's wife, Althea. The great ensemble cast also includes Crispin Glover, James Cromwell, James Carville, Vincent Schiavelli, and a cameo by Flynt himself. A way to describe THE PEOPLE VS. LARRY FLYNT is BOOGIE NIGHTS meets AMADEUS. Just a fantastic film that I could watch over and over.

For me Edward Norton was the best part of The People vs. Larry Flynt. Also watching this in Politics class was awkward to say the least.

Entertaining but uneven portrait of a man hell-bent on doing things the hard way until he accidentally makes his mark in judicial history.
-
My favourite part of this movie was the love between Larry and Althea. Touching.
-
Entertaining and sometimes funny, but like most biopics it's too widespread and would have worked better if it focused on a precise period in Flynt's life rather than covering a vast amount of it. Some of the costumes and production details looked cheap and I don't know how Forman got a best director nomination.

amazing performances all around. woody harrelson, edward norton.. even courtney love and crispin glover were great. the guy playing jerry falwell was perfect.

This film is the true story of publisher Larry Flynt, and his campaign for the American acceptance of freedom of speech. It's an interesting case in so much as the people who were helping him in it didn't necessarily agree with what he was publishing, but agreed with his right to publish it, which is the key to any laws, you don't have to agree with how people interpret them if the law itself is strong and right.
Larry Flynt wasn't the nicest man in the world it seems, he loved his wife dearly, that much is certain, but appeared to suffer from bipolar disorder, making him fairly irrational and somewhat of a nightmare to work with or deal with…

Milos Forman is in full control here and he brings out a career-best performance from Harrelson, not to mention a great turn from Love. The film thrives with its liberal, caution-to-the-wind mantra without ever seeming silly or trivial. Good, solid drama with a smirk on its face.

Woody Harrelson gives one of the finest performances of his career in Milos Forman's The People vs. Larry Flynt, a magnificent, epic-seeming (it feels longer than two hours, and in a good way) biopic about the life of America's most charismatic porn magnate, the many people he pitted himself against and the personal wars he fought with drugs, wealth, fame and the love of his life, Althea Leasure Flynt, played by Courtney Love in a surprisingly excellent performance. The film's numerous courtroom scenes show us just how damaging Flynt's charisma can be. Not only was he willing to offend, he actively, compulsively engaged in it for pleasure, fast becoming one of America's most notable fighters for the right to free…
