Synopsis
It's as real as the feelings you feel.

My love is like a storybook story.
But it's as real as the feelings I feel.Mark Knopfler and Willy DeVille could not have been more right.
I was prompted to rewatch The Princess Bride after watching The Point last night. The Point utilized a central conceit of a father telling a bedtime story. I immediately thought of The Princess Bride, and hungered for a rewatch.
Upon rewatching it, it was affirmed that this conceit is owned by The Princess Bride. It owns it completely. There is no film out there that explores a touching relationship between, in this case, a Grandfather and Grandson in such a real and heartfelt way.
Onto the film.
Classic characters could not have cast…

The only thing I love more than a film filled with witty dialogue is a film filled with epic romance. There has never been a blonder, cuter, more vomit-inducing couple than Westly and Princess Buttercup and there probably never will be. If The Princess Bride doesn't make you believe in true love, I don't know what will.
See also: horseback riding into the sunset, pirates, sea creatures, quicksand, sword fights, hugs from Andre the giant, Billy Crystal in some wild prosthetics, revenge, Colombo, endless amounts of quotes, and a genuinely harrowing adventure.
If your film doesn't have all of this, it isn't the best film ever. Sorry.

Rob Reiner, Peter frickin' Falk, Billy Crystal, a surprisingly acceptable Cary Elwes, MEL SMITH, the delightful Wallace Shawn, André the Giant, that kid from the Wonder Years who can't really act but looks cute as a button....
and Mr. Mandy "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." Patinkin.
All that and a wonderfully silly fairy tale about true love.
Yeah, I like it.

Cary Elwes' best movie. Billy Crystal's best movie. Fred Savage's best movie. Colombo's best movie. Hang on, there's a theme here....

My first viewing of Rob Reiner’s beloved The Princess Bride didn’t thrill me too much. Upon second viewing, I appreciated it much more. It’s film that doesn’t take itself seriously in any way… it’s one of those films. But what separates this story from those (films) is that it contains a soul. And a soul like this is hard to come across. The Princess Bride is a film that intertwines love, humor, action, and adventure seamlessly to create a film that’s utterly entertaining. IT’S INCONCEIVABLE!
This film is a recycling factory. It puts a fresh take on the pretentious films of the damsel in distress. It’s a film of self-parody. Reiner shows just how stupid these stories are, and within… -
Once upon a time, there was a young boy who lived with his father. His father worked all week, while the boy went to school, but at the end of every week they shared a special ritual. The two of them would travel to a strange and magical place called the video rental store. There they would choose one movie from a selection of hundreds, and – if the father was feeling generous – the boy might even get to pick out a piece of candy to go with it. They would take this movie home and enjoy it together.
One day, the boy was being especially difficult. He was taking an especially long time to choose a movie, and…

There I was.
Sitting in my 4th period Sophomore English Class.
Not a moment passed by this semester where my anticipation to watch this grew cold. Today was the day.And so we watched it.
And excuse me for being a megabitch, but this movie was so disappointing. I don't expect to know why, either! So many people love this movie, so there must be something wrong with me, I assumed. But it was just so disappointing. And here's why:
1. Westley, man. I thought his acting was terrible. Yeah, it's a parody, but when you stop looking at the actor's face and focus in on their ponytail more, there must be a problem.
2. I read the book first.…

This is truly one of the all-time greatest films. I need to make a habit of watching it more often. It had been too long. Everything about this film is perfect.

I liked it but not really a keeper for me

Charming, funny, and magical: yeah, I should have watched this a long, long time ago.

Es una mezcla perfecta de aventuras, historia de amor, toques de humor, cuento. Lo tiene todo.

I can see how people would love this film if you watched it growing up. Watching it now seems a little dated but there are some pretty funny moments

A fabulously clever, quirky and action packed fairy tale adventure from 1987. A fantastically balanced fairytale fantasy, that now over 25 years old, still seems fresh and modern and most importantly the humour and classic romance still work wonders. Excellently scripted, witty and wonderful. The Princess Bride is a perfect choice for a Saturday afternoon.

No hay palabras que puedan expresar el amor que siento por esta película. Si no la han visto no sé a qué están esperando.
