My first viewing of Rob Reiner’s beloved The Princess Bride didn’t thrill me too much. Upon second viewing, I appreciated it much more. It’s film that doesn’t take itself seriously in any way… it’s one of those films. But what separates this story from those (films) is that it contains a soul. A fabulously clever, quirky and action packed fairy tale adventure from 1987. A fantastically balanced fairytale fantasy, that now over 25 years old, still seems fresh and modern and most importantly the humour and classic romance still work wonders. Excellently scripted, witty and wonderful. The Princess Bride is a perfect choice for a Saturday afternoon.
