The Princess Diaries
2001 Directed by Garry Marshall
Synopsis
She rocks. She rules. She reigns.
A socially awkward but very bright 15-year-old girl being raised by a single mom discovers that she is the princess of a small European country because of the recent death of her long-absent father, who, unknown to her, was the crown prince of Genovia. She must make a choice between continuing the life of a San Francisco teen or stepping up to the throne.

Anne Hathaway gets hated on by mean girls for a couple hours for no good reason.

I'll start by saying that Garry Marshall is one of the best directors of romantic comedy movies ever. He is extremely competent. His films are always so fun and full of the best choices. Nothing is overdone. The comedy is well balanced without many bad words, which often can kill a movie and makes it much less funny. After all, romantic comedy movies are made to be watched with family. I like to watch movies with my parents and we always had fun watching this one.
I watched this movie for the first time when I was 9/10 years old and in that time it suddenly became one of my favorite films. Today I'm 18, this is the 33336846518th time…

I ended up watching High School Musical in exactly the same way.
It would be unfair for me to score the film too low, because I am in no way, shape, form, time, space or metacontextual representation its intended audience. It's about as much a…

Fun little movie made very watchable by Anne Hathaway. She is just awesome in this and you can actually relate to her loser turned Princess character.
Mandy Moore plays a great b*tch and most of Marshall's usual supporting cast shows up in nice supporting turns.
