Reviews of The Producers 2005

Whan can I say about this? Will Ferrell plays a neo-nazi. Enough said.

"Wait a minute...my name's not Alvin. That's not my life. Somebody else's life is flashing before my eyes...What the hell is that about?!"
I'm a big believer in judging movies on what they want to be. A lot of the criticisms of The Producers seem to be forgetting that this is an intentionally OTT, gaudy, camp and ridiculous musical, which puts it's strength in the audience's ability to play along and enjoy the bizarre ride accompanied by some fantastically elaborate…

Incredibly funny, original and just all over incredible.
The Producers is a fantastically hilarious and over the top musical extravaganza that, in my mind, is not to be missed.
I have nearly nothing bad to say about the film, other than one musical number 'Along Came Bialy', which I didn't LOVE, because this film is so brilliant.
So here's how imma finish...
SPRINGTIME FOR HITLER AND GERRRMANYYYY
WINTER FOR POLAND AND FRANCE
Recommended for everyone and anyone, just because it's a Mel Brooks film which makes me happy.

I enjoyed this more than the 1968 version only for the increase in musical numbers. Acting/story-wise, I would prefer the 1968 version.

Probably the first musical movie that's the definition of "fun". Solid plotline, great characters, funny jokes and hilariously catchy songs that revolve around ridiculous concepts. You know you're in for a good ride if the opening few minutes involves a failing producer faking interest with a pensioning investor, who insists on roleplaying as she says "hold me, touch me". Much to his dissatisfaction as he tries to feign enjoyment.
Honestly, I don't get why this film has bad reviews... Yeah,…

So weird, but so funny. I'm a musical person, this isn't /exactly/ my kind of musical (heh) but I liked it.

Ah, The Producers. One of my personal favorites. I could get in arguments all day about which version is better. Personally, they're both great in my book. This one stars two big hitters of broadway, Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick. Along with the always funny Will Ferrill and the always attractive Uma Thurman. While this one is not directed by the great Mel Brooks, it still encompasses the general spirit of the original. Broderick does a great job of capturing…

“The Producers” hat sich einen Platz auf der Liste meiner filmischen Highlights verdient. Die Lieder, die Schauspieler, die Ausstattung, einfach alles ist an dem Film gelungen. Von der Eröffnungssequenz an schafft es Regisseurin Susan Stroman den Zuschauer gefangen zu nehmen und in eine längst vergessenen Epoche zu entführen.
Nathan Lane (Mäusejagd, Der König der Löwen), Matthew Broderick (Inspektor Gadget, Der König der Löwen), Will Ferrell (A Night at the Roxbury, Old School) und Uma Thurman (Paycheck, Be Cool) sind dabei…

The Producers is a very important film in two respects.
Firstly, it's proof that remakes are not invariably worse than the original, because this film was just MEANT to be a musical. Matthew Broderick may not be quite as funny as Gene Wilder, but Nathan Lane's Max Bialystock wipes the floor with Zero Mostel's, and Uma Thurman is brilliant as Ulla Inga... well, you know the rest.
It's also remarkable in being one of the only movies that isn't spoiled by having Will Ferrel in it.

I saw this originally a year or so after I'd seen the original. Seeing them back to back was an interesting experience, because I realized that while this movie loses some of the original jokes, and Matthew Broderick is not as entertaining as Gene Wilder... everything else about it I like the same or better. Mel Brooks is a fantastic song writer and the musical numbers in this are extremely fun, and that more than makes up for any of…

Even though it doesn't take advantage of the fact it's on screen, and is essentially a filmed version of a stage version, it's still a funny musical with fun music and performances.

The Producers isn't the best film made. Not even close. Not the best musical, not the best Broadway-to-film adaptation. Not nearly the best Mel Brooks movie. It bombed at the box office and got some pretty bad reviews. It has parts that drag on and some of the songs are boring as all hell. It doesn't hold a candle to the 1968 original.
But, for reasons I can’t put words too, I love it. So much! And I don’t know…
