Special effects artist Robert Kurtzman's fourth stab at directing is a highly entertaining schlock-horror B-movie adventure with some really corny acting and dialogue. Where the film excels however is in the gleefully gory excess of the special effects.
This film doesn't hold back at all, we are treated to decapitation, electrocution, cannibalism, eye-gouging, impalement, cranial-explosion, child murder... even a flock of savage mutant vultures! And the opening scene is among the goriest starts to a film I've ever seen.
Great stuff for fans of schlocky, excessive gore, but don't expect a classic. -

Reprehensible acting threatens to derail blood-soaked killer vulture creature feature.
Traditional horror values, sense of fun prevail to save the day.
Kurtzman found not guilty of perverting the course of independent filmmaking.

I really wasn’t expecting this to be good. Director Robert Kurtzman’s previous film, Buried Alive, was awful and, well, this isn’t good either but it is an awful lot of fun. It is full of some truly terrible acting, the direction isn’t much better and the story is as dumb as they come. So what saves it? Simple; the ridiculous levels of gore and the fact it revels in its schlocky qualities.
It is not surprising that Kurtzman has a history in special effects because it is the one real element where the film excels. Using practical effects (apart for some ropey but kind of quaint CGI vultures), The Rage is a throwback to when DTV horror films were simple,…

Moderately entertaining mad-scientist-creates-zombies sort of way. Not exactly the 'New Splatter Classic', but worth a look if you like this sort of thing.
