An outstanding performance from Kate Winslet, and her chemistry with David Kross is strong, allowing the audience to feel sorry for her as his character does. The story is incredibly interesting and intriguing, and it unravels really well. For a two hour long film, it manages to keep you engaged until the very end as well.

Beautiful. That is the only word I can find to describe The Reader and Kate Winslet's performance. This drama will have you questioning what you thought were solid morals and ethics in your life. What is right? What is wrong? This is, without a doubt, my favourite Winslet performance to date.

"I had heard negative reports about this film, but enjoyed the way that the hidden secret of a Nazi prison guard is revealed, and its effect upon her young lover."

Great romantic drama from director Stephen Daldry starring some fantastic performances from Kate Winslet, David Kross and Ralph Fiennes. It's a story that centers around sadness and guilt as the main emotions. It slowly started getting to me and finally didn't let me go until the very end. I feel this is the best performance I've seen from Kate Winslet and I like her in most, if not all the films I've seen her star in. Recommended!

Hmm, what to say about this film. It began a bit slow and I was tempted to turn it off because I felt all the sex and nudity was gratuitous. But then I had to keep watching as what happens in the beginning begins to mean so much more in the end, and I had to get to the end. I think I would have enjoyed the book more...

A overlong, self-important mess of a film with some bad performances from some good actors. It's a mess.

One of the best films I have ever watched. Every detail from acting, directing, script, and overall content was beyond anything I have seen. Kate Winslet in my opinion deserved an oscar for the performance, not comparing to anyone else in the category just that she deserved one for this performance. Michael Kross for such a young actor did an amazing job and even though he isn't in the film as much as Kate and Michael, Ralph did a great job depicting an older Michael. Seeing the honesty of this film somehow made me think about my favourite movies, and one I see differently just a tiny bit after seeing this and its something that can't be explained.
