The Rebound
2009 Directed by Bart Freundlich
Synopsis
She's still got it. He's just getting it.
Sandy, upon discovering her husband's infidelity while watching her son's birthday video, leaves the suburbs and moves into the city. She gets an apartment that's above a coffee house where she befriends one of the workers, Aram, a guy whose wife only married him so she could get a green card. Aram's family thinks he's wasting his life and education by working in the coffee house. Soon after moving into the apartment, Sandy hires Aram to be her nanny while she takes on work for the first time since her children where born. It isn't long when Aram and Sandy find they get along wonderfully and start to date. But the question is: is their relationship real or is it, in fact, just a rebound for both of them?

A guilty pleasure of mine. I think it's more because of some of its ideas rather than the execution, but then again it might just be Catherine Zeta-Jones...
Anyways. Could've been a lot better, and a lot worse... Predictable and safe take on a somewhat interesting idea.

Film #44 of The December Project
The Rebound is so mediocre in every possibly way that it becomes a much more painful experience than if it was just simply a bad movie.

kinda interesting take on older woman & younger man pairing in a relationship. Less like a normal rom-com and more on the realities of life. Catherine is great to watch. Too bad that although in the movie, it's supposed to be Late 40s & 25yo, in real life the actors were 40yo & 31yo so the contrast didn't feel huge.

Not bad for a romantic comedy. I liked some stuff, hated others but whatever works.

Although you already imagine the end, there are things unexpected. A good movie, fun to watch and I recommend. ;)

This romantic comedy starts off quite well before bottling it and falling apart in the last act.

Test of time: 2Botox odd. That was my first impression. Purely on the basis the CZJones appears to have one expression throughout the entire film and that expression is expressionless.
I've never watched a film in which an actress is so so bland. The storyline is a mum of two finds out her husband is cheating, moves the NYC and finds a much younger man. It's an interesting dynamic and there's some thought gone into the storyline.
Still I keep thinking "odd+botox?" as the summary. Watch it for yourself to make up your own mind.

I'm not sure what possessed me to watch this, given that it's a romcom with one of the prats from The Hangover films in it, but it just about won me over. I warmed to the prat and was slightly smitten by Zeta-Jones. It's typically formulaic and pretty gruesome viewing at times, but meh, it made me chuckle occasionally and left me smiling. A guilty pleasure perhaps....
