this is the ultimate romantic comedy list . . . for better or for worse. i got the list from…
She's still got it. He's just getting it.
Sandy, upon discovering her husband's infidelity while watching her son's birthday video, leaves the suburbs and moves into the city. She gets an apartment that's above a coffee house where she befriends one of the workers, Aram, a guy whose wife only married him so she could get a green card. Aram's family thinks he's wasting his life and education by working in the coffee house. Soon after moving into the apartment, Sandy hires Aram to be her nanny while she takes on work for the first time since her children where born. It isn't long when Aram and Sandy find they get along wonderfully and start to date. But the question is: is their relationship real or is it, in fact, just a rebound for both of them?
¨She`s still got it. He`s just getting it.¨
This is the first film I´ve seen from director Bart Freundlich and I can say I wasn`t very impressed. The Rebound has its laugh out loud moments, but they are few. The beginning of the film didn`t impress me much and I was ready to give up on it, but halfway through the movie it picks up and the chemistry between Catherine Zeta-Jones and Justin Bartha helps. It is not a great movie, but it is not your typical romcom either and it has a few things favoring it. The script was written by Bart Freundlich, the director himself, but it wasn`t one of the strong points; I felt the dialogue could…
The Rebound is so mediocre in every possibly way that it becomes a much more painful experience than if it was just simply a bad movie.
Omg this is a very good romantic/comedy film. I loved it so much! You actually care for the characters in the film!! Handsome guy in this movie he was awesome and of course very attractive to look at LOL. Highly recommend it! This is probably one of my new favourite romantic/comedy films, this is really good!!
This movie is a simple Rom-Com. It has it's laughs but overall meanders towards it's inevitable and predictable end. Zeta-Jones does a solid job as a single mother but I just found Justin Bartha to be annoying most of the time and his over done take on a naive youth is not to be admired. The story is simple, and at times dumb and the question is raised more times than not; Why does this film exist? It is just another predictable romantic comedy with poor dialogue and convoluted story lines. It's not my kind of thing, but if you love that sort of movie then The Rebound is for you.
A guilty pleasure of mine. I think it's more because of some of its ideas rather than the execution, but then again it might just be Catherine Zeta-Jones...
Anyways. Could've been a lot better, and a lot worse... Predictable and safe take on a somewhat interesting idea.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Not bad. Nice to see a down to earth caring guy get the babe. I just blew the whole premise so spoiler alert! Seriously though it was refreshing to see guys can be sensitive and mature even when they are young. Thumbs up for a heartfelt convincing rom-com
Catherine ZJ is quite fetching, as usual, but who lets Bart Freundlich make movies? Whoever it is is a cinematic sadist.
Different formula to the usual rom-com and it does get a bit heavy and dramatic towards the end due to them becoming a couple earlier on but the characters are likeable and the actors are watchable (despite an odd decision to make Justin Bartha a lot younger than he is for dramatic reasons - he's actually only 8 years younger than Catherine, but the film has a 15 year age gap).
Don't be fooled by shitty, "ghosts of girlfriends past" style thumbnail. This is such a good deep film!!!! Half a star taken off for the five-years-passing-quickly montage.
a total cringe-fest
I saw this movie a few years ago. I couldn't sleep, and I had the Netflix app on my iPhone. It wasn't too bad.
Was looking for a romantic comedy. Found one. Enjoyed it. A little less comedy than drama but still a good watch.
Ugh necesito que Justin Bartha salga en algo nuevo YA YA YA. Denme National Treasure 3,4,5,6,7!
Bonita para pasar el rato
