Growing up in 80s Germany came with the big disadvantage of a tight grip the government had on banning movies and censorship. The great thing about that is, now that I'm all grown up and there is the internet and I get to see a whole ton of classics for the first time.
This one is definitely up there with the greats since it's the classic Zombie flick that introduced the idea of Zombies eating brains. On top of that, thinking, speaking and running Zombies must have been quite the novelty as well.
It also was one of the first horror comedies with great lines and high quotability. I do feel though that it's way too 80s and my lack of nostalgia goggles made it seem kind of silly at times.

"I thought you said if we destroyed the brain, it'd die."
"It worked in the movie!"
"Well it ain't working now."
"You mean that in the movie they lied!"Ah, good ol' Return of the Living Dead. It's always worth a rewatch. The film with fast zombies that it's ok to like without people getting all uppity on you.
Looking great on Blu-Ray. And for the first time the ending didn't annoy me.

Chuck, I never did like you. Oh, but God, hold me tight.
-CaseyNight of the Living Dead is one of the greatest horror films of all time and who holds the rights to "what" has been in question ever since the film first screened. I won't get into all of that, but the original was written by it's director George A. Romero and John A. Russo and was their first feature film. For whatever circumstance, they went their separate ways with Romero free to make sequels to the original film while Russo retained the rights to the name Living Dead.
Whether or not Return of the Living Dead can be considered an "alternate reality sequel" to NotLD is debatable,…

Reason number 1 why I'll only dance naked in cemeteries that are nowhere near a medical supply store.

It has been so long since I had seen this film that I suddenly had a urge to watch it being around Halloween and I havent seen a decent zombie film in a while. Well it wasn't quite as I remembered it but it is a fun film to just laugh at and enjoy.
It really is a time capsule of the 80's as other reviewers have described it, from the clothes, hair styles to the music and dialogue. That being said it is also dated in that sense fitting the style of the 80's trash cinema of the time. I actually did not find it as funny as others did as well and the scenes with the bikers/teens just…

More BRAAAAINNNSSS!!!
This movie a fun horror comedy. Sure it's not that scary but what it lacks in scares it gets in humor. It a fun concept that Night of the Living Dead was "a true story". From start to finish it is an enjoyable watch. I guess there are parts in the middle that get a little slow but over all it is well paced enough to work. It's no Zombieland or Shaun of the Dead but it is good and a lot of fun. Worth a watch.

Unapologetically gonzo and never lets up for a moment. So central to so many mythologies. It underlines how seriously contemporary genre material takes itself by being so fun (even if the characters are in dire straits). This film perfectly balances its tone, quickly sketches its characters and finds increasingly creative methods of displaying its fabulous horrors.

While Dawn of the Dead mixed comedy and horror much more effectively, pretty much any imitation is going to look weak against George A. Romero the zombie auteur. This was fun on its own merits though and had some decent effects. Not great but this was early days for zombies. Apparently Part 3 in this series is also decent.

"Do you wanna party? It's party time!"
This is a really fun horror comedy. The more times I watch it the more I enjoy it. The humor is well done. I love the idea that Night of the Living Dead was based on a cover up. It's an enjoyable film for any horror fan or just zombie fan. If you like stuff like Zombieland, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Shaun of the Dead and Fright Night then check this movie out. Worth a watch.

Well after putting off watching this, it was definitely worth it. This may be the movie that gets me into older horror movies. Overall I found it a lot more enjoyable than more modern horror movies. There's a small amount of comedy and the acting is great! Definitely going to re-watch this one.

I'm so glad I finally caught up with this ... it's a lot of silly fun and has loads of rewatch value.

A VHS childhood favourite of mine and a sequel sort of to Night of the Living Dead, this still really holds up, more due to its strange comic tone and zombies that can talk, move fast and even problem solve. Well ahead of its time. It is the perfect homage to the Romero movies, there is no happy ending here, only a very ironic twist. The only thing this film needs is more paramedics

One of my favorite horror films of all time! This blend of horror/comedy and campiness makes for an extremely fun zombie film that in my opinion is one of the best horror films of the 80's! I always prefer the straight out of a grave zombies over the ones that spawn from some sort of contagious outbreak. The gore is good, the zombies are relentless,Tar man Is legendary and the overall story is good. Send more paramedics...
