"Amputiert - Der Henker der Apokalypse" ist einer jener Filme, dessen Hülle ich als Kind einmal in der Videothek gesehen hatte (und ich bin mir ziemlich sicher das Motiv auch mal auf einem John Sinclair Heft gesehen zu haben). Irgendwie ergab sich nie die Möglichkeit ihn einmal zu sehen und so haben sich in meinem kindlichen bis jugendlichen Hirn wüsteste Vorstellungen über diesen Film zusammengebraut.

Nun bin ich bei MyVideo über das Ding gestolpert und letztendlich haben wir es hier wenig überraschend mit einem Slasher/Krimi von der Stange zu tun, der zwar eine relativ interessante Prämisse und ein halbwegs befriedigendes Ende zu bieten hat, aber mehr dann auch nicht. Diverse spektakuläre Splatterszenen die ich mir über die Jahre ausgmalt habe sind natürlich nicht ansatzweise vorhanden.

Besondere Erwähnung sollte die Filmmusik finden bei der man mehrfach den Eindruck hat, der Komponist wäre schlichtweg mit dem Kopf auf der Orgel eingeschlafen.

Grotty grindhouser from the 70s. A bunch of guys gets trapped in a cave-in, and after four weeks, they decide to resort to cannibalism, just before they get rescued. The victim goes crazy, and five years later, the other men start getting attacked by someone who wants their arms.

I assume that the print I watched is probably about as good as it's ever gonna look, and it was pretty dank (though I suspect it looked like that in 1973 also). The plot is pretty straightforward, the electronic score sounds like someone just whacking away at a keyboard, the cast is kind of okay (although Marvin Kaplan's comic relief DJ character is neither), and the ending twist is actually the best part of the movie to me. Overall, worth wasting a Saturday afternoon on if you don't have a kung fu movie to watch.
