God do I love this fucking film. Yes, the acting, the story, the pacing, the jumping from past to present time is brilliant, but holy mother fuck is the cinematography, most specifically the lighting, a thing of fucking beauty.

The lighting in the beginning especially, gives you this amazing 50's vibe. Especially the way Antonio dresses, and the last scene between the three main actors, everything just screams 50's and I fucking love it.

I'd watch this for the amazing…

Takes the rape-revenge film in a more harrowing and thoughtful direction than any film since the 1970s has. All that and it has a beating human heart, too, for all of its various ambiguous villains. A heart beating under layers of bleak, antiseptic gloss, but a heart nonetheless. Almodovar is three for three with me.

Almodovar's usual melodramatic tones feel more refined here. This plays out like a Freudian nightmare.

One of the best contemporary films I've seen in a long while. Almodovar touches his themes of sexuality, identity, etc. in the most affective and effective way imaginable. He manages to completely transmit the feelings, confusions, horror and intrigue of the characters' situations into the viewer's experience. Doesn't hurt that the leading actress will break your heart. Times its beats perfectly, especially on the final cut to black.

I was afraid that this was going to be a really 'artsy' movie but was pleasantly surprised that it was actually an enjoyable (albeit disturbing) watch.

A pretty unique plot that kept me guessing and invested until the very end.

Fantastic, utterly excellent. Just mind numbingly, gender-bendingly, Antonio Banderasingly, very... very good.

Whilst some films may take the concept of horror and bend it to their very will, throwing shocks and gore at the audience like there's no tomorrow, this film takes that idea and manipulates in such a way that it has created something spectacular.

A horror without jumps, scares or shocks.

    And it's fucking fantastic.

Recommended for fans of the weird, the wonderful and the downright great.

This Pedro Almodóvar-directed film is like the story elements of David Cronenberg body horror minus the goopy gore, but still with implied, mostly off-screen, horror. Add in the western European art house feel and there you have the Skin I Live In. You could also say it's The Human Centipede for people who are embarrassed to admit to watching The Human Centipede. It's "a film by Almodóvar" so you're safe, right? Antonio Banderas puts in a great performance as a gifted but obsessed medical scientist. There's a talky espositional scene that take place while he's pruning some bonsai trees. Nice touch there, Pedro.

My, my, Hitchcock would be so proud of this Spanish masterpiece of psycological horror.

This is equally beautiful as disturbing. After the end-credits, you just wanna press 'play' again to make sure you haven't lost your mind...
