Colombian horror? Starts well atmospheric soldiers on a mission haunted house stylee then... doesn't really do much else they all go a bit funny..

Argh. I was looking forward to this one a lot after Tom (a.ka The Headbanger) had recommended it greatly on his YouTube show Horror's Ball. Well sorry Tom, but our thoughts on this movie couldn't differ more.
A squad of soldiers head out on some sort of mission somewhere. There is a lot of fog and they come across abandoned buildings. In one of the buildings they find a trapped woman. Superstitions claim she might be some sort of witch,…

Film 13 of Steve Grzesiak's Worldwide Month of Scary Bastard Films
In some ways, The Squad, a Colombian horror film about a unit of soldiers who are sent to investigate the location and fate of a preceding unit and happen upon a mystery, is the most difficult film I've had to review in this month of horror so far - and that includes Detention.
Whilst that was a pretty open and shut case of utter contempt or total adoration (still…

Moody, atmospheric gem from Colombia I was proud to program for SDLFF 2012.

Brilliantly atmospheric and unsettling Columbian horror/thriller. Sustains a great sense of creeping dread throughout the whole film. Excellent

A great beginning, lots of atmosphere and I loved the soundtrack.
Unfortunately, there were only 2 ways the script could go after the reveal early on and neither I particularly cared for. What was worse is I didn't care for any of the characters who were completely one dimensional and could be interchangeable.
I will admit it is coming up to midnight and with it being the second film of the night, I fast forwarded to see what was coming…

Psychological thriller from Columbia thats so ambiguous its hard to label what genre it truly fits in. It follows a squadron of soldiers surveying a lookout point named 'Knives Point'. The band of brothers aren't prepared for the horrors they're about to witness, when they find out the previous residents are all dead. They uncover a bloodied diary detailing bizarre events and a mysterious screaming woman walled up in the base. Have the men found a disturbed casualty, a tortured…

The Squad Bloody horror and nail-biting tension - from hotly-tipped first-time director Jaime Osorio Marquez – combine in this chillingly atmospheric story of a group of elite soldiers sent to a remote bunker to investigate the circumstances surrounding a mysterious communications breakdown with a fellow unit.
Part psychological thriller, part full-blown horror film, The Squad efficiently builds its almost unbearable tension like a high-powered pressure cooker before delivering a final revelation that will send faint-hearted viewers running screaming to the hills.

A squad of soldiers are sent to an army base atop of hill in Colombia after it goes silent.
Once there they discover the troops that should be there have disappeared and a woman is found encased within a wall, tied up.
As they try to determine just what happened their minds start to fracture and the dynamics of the squad shatter as they battle for their lives.
Tight and tense, this little psychological horror works well right up to the chill-induced final scene.
