Easily one of the best films of the last 5 years.
This rightly acclaimed crime thriller is made for grown-ups. With superb performances of well formed characters.
An old fashioned thriller that is good more times than it is not.
Ben Affleck is a proper actor, and is fast becoming a powerhouse director. He will almost certainly have an excellent career.
And who saw that coming?..

Proof positive that even if a concept's been done a thousand times before, it can still pay off if you invest in the characters and treat the plot with the level of commitment it deserves.

What this movie convinced me of:
• It's probably safe to tell people I like Ben Affleck again
• My disdain for Jon Hamm is only half justified, because he's actually a great actor
• I don't have to get violently ill every time I experience Blake Lively's acting outside of Gossip Girl
• You aren't supposed to believe anything in this movie could happen in real life
• It's okay to like an average movie if the characters are memorable and the acting is top notch -

There's a new sheriff in town in The Town and he's Jon Hamm. Only he's not a sheriff, he's FBI, and he's the goddamn handsomest man they've got. Also: this movie wasn't very good. But it did have Jon Hamm.

I have never been a big Ben Affleck fan, so I was pretty sure this movie would be more of a "Meh" factor for me. I did, however, see it in the theater and have to admit that I loved it. So much more interesting and fast-paced than I thought it would be! The casting was well done. My only complaint was the main actress was a tad annoying. Everyone else (especially Jeremy Renner) blew me away. This is one of the few bank robbing movies I will watch every time it comes on HBO.

I don't remember too much of this movie but I haven't liked any of Afleck's directed films yet. (ok I didn't see gone baby gone yet) yes that includes Argo. But Jon Hamm is in this so that gains an extra half star and a few other elements were ok, but I remember losing interest at some point.

Solid story, very strong performances (particularly from Rebecca Hall, who is rapidly becoming my favorite actress) and a fine directorial effort from Ben Affleck. Gritty crime dramas aren't my thing, but you can't get away from the fact that this is a very good movie.

It took all of two movies for Ben Affleck to become one of my favorite directors working today. For the record, Gone Baby Gone is the better, more challenging film. But The Town is a sturdy genre piece that's a hell of a lot of fun for grown-ups. Loved the old-school car chase in the middle. Affleck sure knows how to put those Beantown alleys to good use.

Ben Affleck shows both is acting and directing skill with this film, the interesting and entertaining narrative is complemented by skill-full film-making as well as the performances.

AFFLECK cannot manage to lead both behind the scenes and in front of the camera; every secondary character felt flat and every action sequence was almost satisfying.

¨I will see you; this side or the other. ¨
Many critics thought that Ben Affleck`s successful directorial debut in Gone Baby Gone could have to do with beginners luck, but he proved them otherwise with The Town because he has made one of the best films of the year once again. He has managed to go two for two now and is beginning to prove he may have a better career as a director than an actor. Affleck has brought us one of the best crime thrillers of the decade; I was completely hooked from the very beginning with the heist and chase scenes as well as with the characters. The movie has several tense scenes that will have…

So I bought this movie two years ago on Black Friday because I had heard it was good and it was only like $5. Put it on my shelf and kind of forgot about it. So here we are today, finally watching it. I wish I hadn't waited so long, because this is about as good a cops and robbers movie as it gets. Who knew that Ben Affleck would become such a great director.
