Cool Ray Harryhausen (RIP) stop-motion animation in service of a story straight out of an old Dell Comics 4-pager (slang for a comic book story approx. 4 pages in length -ed). Sudden thought: I wonder if The Valley of Gwangi could possibly be the same Lost Valley that Turok and Andar were trapped in around the same time this movie is set.
Favorite part is probably when the curtain over The Great Gwangi rises to reveal the big lizard eating a terrified little person. It's kind of darkly funny in a way that Harryhausen movies usually aren't. Fun!

Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs. Effects and animation by Ray Harryhausen. Obviously and inarguably the greatest film ever made.

Fun enough adventure, though i really could have used a bit more dino action. The stop motion work is solid though (it is Harryhausen after all), i mean, who doesn't want to see Gwangi vs a stegosaurus or Gwangi vs an elephant?

Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs!
A Tyrannosaurus vs. an elephant!
Harryhausen vs. everything!Old timey fun to be had for (go-motion king) Harryhausen completists and haters of elephants and cowboys everywhere. Jurassic Park 2 owes a lot to this premise. didn't save JP2 from being crap though. Oh well.

Despite carrying an absurd premise as a bunch of cowboys head into the dinosaur ridden Forbidden Valley, this original hybrid of science fiction and western appealed some fresh fun.
The special effects and creatures ripped straight off the set of One Million Years B.C. are dated, as expected of the film's age. The picture soon becomes overrun by Ray Harryhausen showing off his animation abilities, taking priority over the narrative.
While the narrative and vintage FX can be taken with a pinch of salt, unfortunately the terrible delivery of a dreadfully written script full of nonsensical "jargon" cannot.

Never heard of this film before until recently. I must have taped it and forgot all about it. I watched and really enjoyed it highly entertaining a cross between a cowboy films and sinbad / Jason , it never seen it seek it out you won't be disappointed
