Oh... this is special.
I had a bit of a flurry on portmanteau films recently and I've still a few to get through, but I noticed this lil' puppy on my hard drive and thought I'd give it a whirl.
This film is like a time capsule of camp, kitch Britishness.
It starts with a group of gentlemen in a lift which leads them to a lavishly furnished basement where each man tells the others about his nightmares. All very well and good, but when I noticed this gaggle of guys included a Bond Villain, Terry-Thomas and Dr Fuckin' Who!!! Wohooooo!!!
All stories are taken from the pages of Tales From The Crypt for added credibility and awesome. The first…

Pretty decent anthology - not overly gory, in fact not too gory..its a solid effort in the Amicus line of horror...

In this sequel to Tales From the Crypt we get five more horrific tales of retribution based on the classic EC comic. A weak sequel.

A little bit creepy and a fair amount cheesy add up to an enjoyable 70's Amicus film with decent production values. Not the best anthology horror film, but certainly not the worst.

Another great collection of horror stories - I appreciated the humour in this one. Drawn and Quartered was the stand out.

This film holds up like a champ. 5 tales of horror mixed in with a splash of humor that worked superbly.

Worthy sequel to Tales from the Crypt; this is more or less the same movie (but in a great way).
Love the stories selected here (the first and second are my favorite of the bunch), and the overall 70's flair gets my vote.
There is an uncut version floating around (I believe it was released in the UK); try and get your hands on that one.

A good film, although I just couldn't shake the memory of watching Steve Coogan's Dr Terrible's House of Horrible out of my mind whilst watching it. I swear that show has ruined every Hammer Horror movie for me!
Terry Thomas' and Tom Baker's dreams were the best, and they were arguably the best actors in it. The others were a bit hit and miss (mostly miss). I'm sure there was a point to be made by this film, maybe something about greed and pride, but it was just too silly. Typically Hammer Horror.

British anthology horror with Terry Thomas and Tom Baker. Not scary, but so cheesy its almost watchable. 3/10.
