As much flack as Adam Sandler gets (much of it deserving, especially these days), I think that when he's actually trying he's a genuinely talented comic with a unique appeal and three truly must-see movies to his name. Those would be PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE, the inspired, oft-underrated gem HAPPY GILMORE, and this sweet little romantic comedy. (One of the few in that subgenre that actually strikes just the right balance between the romance and the comedy, neglecting neither and over-emphasizing neither).…

Watching this film today I often find some the knowing nods to future events to be cringe-worthy. It's not subtle.
But it's set in the 80's, is Adam Sandler's best film and, I don't think, Drew has ever looked nicer.
If you've not seen it (shame on you) this is a comedy about a Wedding Singer (surprise!) named Robbie who, after his fiance dumps him at the alter, goes on a downward slide. Meanwhile he meets Julia who, getting married…
