I am assuming this is most likely the first filmed version of Baum's famous story. It is as expected quite different from the more known 1939 version. These early short films seem to be more feeling out the new found territory of cinema rather than truly attempting to make a good (and when it comes to adaptations, faithful) film. 13 minutes just is not enough to tell this story and like the other infant short film literary adapts trying to do so loses all forms of coherency.

Unfortunately I got no enjoyment whatsoever from this piece of film history.

In this version Dorothy meets the Scarecrow before the storm. She is transported to Oz together with Toto, the Scarecrow and a cow and a donkey. The band then meets up with…

This 1910 silent short is probably the first filmed version of Frank L. Baum's classic tale that would later become such an enduring cinematic classic. I'm sure you all know the plot, so I won't bore you with it.
