A new ongoing series that will spotlight character actors from the 20s through today. Studios used to have stables of…
Top of the World
In Las Vegas for a quicky divorce, a just-paroled ex-cop and his wife wander into the Top of the World Casino, run by the shady Charles Atlas. They win big, right as the casino is being robbed. The police believe their big win was a staged diversion, and the two of them become suspects. Over the course of the evening and next morning, the two attempt to escape to surrounded casino, and to prove their innocence, as well as to save their marriage.
I gotta give the film props for getting this many big names in a clearly lower level budget film.
And even more props in how crazy the action was in such a film. This movie may have had more action that most big blockbuster action films have.
The plot is kind of like Reindeer Games with a heist in a casino, and everyone backstabbing each other, so the story was fine to go along with the great action sequences.
I am willing to bet this is the worst acting job from every actor involved. Weller is beyond cardboard dull here. Carrere looks the hottest I've ever seen here, but just awful. Hopper comes off best, playing the same role…
despite it's low budget, this is a full force action film with some surprisingly good action scenes. Dennis Hopper is having fun, Tia Carrera is beautiful and Peter Weller adds a touch of credibility to it. Some outstanding stunts too
