Trinity is Still My Name
1972 ‘...continuavano a chiamarlo Trinità’ Directed by Enzo Barboni
Synopsis
Trinity's back in the saddle again and still horsing around
A couple of two-bit thieving brothers try and keep a promise to their dying father: stick together and become successful outlaws. Bambino reluctantly agrees to show younger Trinity the ropes, but their gentle demeanors tend to diminish their haul by repeatedly helping the selfsame family they initially held up. Fun ensues in town and at the local Spanish mission where they are taken for federal agents, mistakenly so identified by Trinity's young love interest, daughter of the aforementioned family.

An enjoyable spaghetti western comedy that follows THEY CALL ME TRINITY, and also happens to be the biggest hit at the box office the genre ever saw. When you see documentaries on spaghetti westerns, the "experts" in them act like the comedic westerns with Terence Hill and Bud Spencer signaled the death of the genre, yet when these guys were starring in these movies, the spaghetti western was never more popular. There's a reason Sergio Leone got Hill to star in his production of MY NAME IS NOBODY. The TRINITY films are hugely enjoyable, and yet despite their success in their day, they are currently underseen because of revisionism on the part of critics and fans, which is a shame.

One of the few sequels that is better than the original and for me the best western parody at all.

Dumb action. But still, I like it.

I liked this more than the first part, but nothing was quite as good as the opening scene of They Call Me Trinity, which was the only time I laughed in either film. I guess some things just don't translate.

Even better than the first one!

Trinity movies were one of my favourites when I was 7. I revisited the first movie a few weeks ago and as I expected it wasn't anywhere near as hilarious as I remembered it. Still, curiosity got the better of me and I decided to watch the sequel. Well, Trinity is Still My Name has all the flaws of the first movie. It is way too slow and aimless for a western parody and while I don't mind that humour is as infantile as it can get, more often than not it falls flat because of bad timing or delivery. Once in a while it got a smile or a chuckle out of me. Ultimately it is partially redeemed by being a very sweet natured film and it feels like it is slightly better made than the first movie.
