A group of German officers join in a conspiracy to assassinate Adolf Hitler. Based on true events, this film painstakingly dramatizes the plot and its consequences.
Since the Fuhrer obviously survived, the suspense lies in how far the group will get and whether any of them will escape. Of course, those who already know the details of that historical event will know this as well. Nevertheless, director Bryan Singer and screenwriters Christopher McQuarrie (who worked with Singer on The Usual…

Shortly before the Third Reich enters its death throes, a group of generals plots to eliminate Hitler and seize the power by way of exploiting a national security backup plan. Effectively taut war thriller fails to find the right balance between star-ridden entertainment and emotionally realistic period piece - but works well enough notwithstanding

The film concerns it's self with style by looking good. Which it does great locations, costumes, and set direction. However it doesn't explore such a devastating event in our history more thoroughly. Although Tom Cruise does a very quiet performance.

Valkyrie is an awesome, action war drama that puts to light one of the most ambitious coups during the reign of the Nazis during the second World War. Though a flawed film, Valkyrie is a suspenseful film and is very well acted. People seem to give this film bad press because of Tom Cruise's involvement in the project. A superb piece of film-making from Bryan Singer and starring Tom Cruise, Bill Nighy, Terence Stamp and even Eddie Izzard.
The story of Operation: Valkyire was the assassination attempt against Adolph Hitler, bringing down the Nazi party from the inside and saving Europe from 'Hitler's Germany'. Led by Colonel Von Staffenbury (Cruise) and a band of trusted fellow miliraty powers, the story is as gripping as it is thrilling as the operation is planned, plotted and executed.

It still bothers me when there is one actor, usually the lead, that has a different accent than anyone else. If you are substituting German accents for British ones (which I'm ok with), make it consistent. I liked that the film started off in German then switched (nicely, in fact).
Either have an all American Cast or an all British Cast is all I'm asking. -
This a soft 4/5 but it's still pretty good. I don't know why people didn't like this one because it's not that bad. There were parts I really liked and it was just a flat out entertaining movie. It's one of the better Hollywood WW2 dramas out there.

Surprisingly suspenseful, given we already know the outcome, this WWII thriller has a strong performance from Cruise and a fine supporting cast of mostly British thesps
