Choose your destiny.
Doormat Wesley Gibson discovers that his recently murdered father -- who Wesley never knew -- belonged to a secret guild of assassins. After a leather-clad sexpot drafts Wesley into the society, he hones his innate killing skills and turns avenger.
This film is one of the most ridiculously awesome things I have ever seen. And yes, that does include Shoot 'Em Up. Seriously, this is just brilliant. There's people curving bullets, people flipping cars then shooting people whilst still in said car, exploding rats and Angelina Jolie.
And I never though the day would come when I started measuring movie badassness on the merits of a character played by James McAvoy.
I am for watching this film for a little while and I read some bad comments about it and I can't understand why all of the hate!? This film is totally cool! It has the most crazy impossible action scenes but all were awesome to watch! I had a lot of "wow" moments and it was a pure and good entertainment thriller from beginning to end!
James McAvoy passes from idiot to badass and he did a great job, again! He is a versatile actor and I really admire him. Angelina Jolie plays the type of character that is always perfect for her, so she was great too. Well and Morgan Freeman is Morgan Freeman.
For me this is definitely worth watching and I had a lot of fun!
"What the fuck have you done lately?.."
Exceptionally filmed scenes of exceptional action!
Not as dark as the graphic novel but still packs a bloody punch.
McAvoy proves he can be an A list star and Jolie finally brings out the superstar card she'd always threatened.
And she also shows her exceptional back side.
I've seen plenty of crappy movies in my day, but rare indeed is the movie so crappy that it causes me to feel sudden and debilitating existential dread. As I watched "Wanted" unfurl, slack-jawed in my disbelief that such a piece of oppressive awfulness was allowed to be made, let alone released to the unsuspecting masses, I started to think about what brought me to this place in my life. Every thought I'd had since birth, every word that I'd uttered, and every path that I'd chosen in my entire life led me inexorably towards watching "Wanted" on a random Tuesday afternoon. Those 110 interminable minutes represented the…
Angelina Jolie's buttcrack does not a good movie make...
[EDIT: FIVE STARS FOR THOM'S USE OF "PISH POSH" AS A DISMISSIVE. I WAS WRONG, THIS MOVIE IS TOTALLY COOL]
This movie is the definition of style over substance. Timur Bekmambetov proves again and again that he has a great eye for action setpieces that are clever and unique. Who would have thought that in 2008 someone could reinvent the wheel regarding shoot outs? Curving bullets is such a wonderfully stupid idea.
However, if you watch this movie looking for realism or the slightest hope of a decent story you will be disappointed. But if you can look beyond that you're in for one hell of an amazing rollercoaster ride.
It is kinda sad though that the producers managed to hire Angelina Jolie and then only her skin and bones showed up.
Just a quick write up!
Tries to be a film in the same vain as Fight Club and The Matrix but fails to realise what the ideas behind those films are, ending up to be a copy and identity-less film that based on films that are about copies and lack of identity.
Still, a lot of fun to be had with some of the physics shitting action scenes, despite James McAvoy being totally unlikable from the offset (honestly, he's more likeable in Filth than this).
its like?? i guess i liked it?? it was kind of silly and kind of plotless and i found the ""cool"" angles kind of distracting and pointless like w/o those angles the film would be nothing IDK it was cool the cast was hot and james mcavoy's accent was on point but it was p blah
Other than Angelina Jolie's ass, Angelina Jolie's illuminated face and Angelina Jolie's acting (believe it or not), Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy release their inner bad self to show the diversity that they can enormously bring as fantastic actors. A truly exceptionally cool film filled with bending bullets et al.
Did I mention that Angelina Jolie has a great ass?
A well paced action flick with attitude and style.
The only thing I remember is the internet blowing up over Angelina Jolie's bony ass. Once again, the comic is way better.
Nice action flick that could have done without its blatant 3D effects.
Was intrigued by the combination of ninja-assassin, finding your calling, the hero's journey, and other themes that went into it. Not sure if the movie is very deep (I usually need help to see that stuff), but I'd watch it again for fun.
Oddly stylized, very unoriginal.
Bonus: Chris Pratt is in this.
Pretty good action flick (that knows its target audience well, almost panderingly so) but wraps up too anticlimactically.
