Doormat Wesley Gibson discovers that his recently murdered father -- who Wesley never knew -- belonged to a secret guild of assassins. After a leather-clad sexpot drafts Wesley into the society, he hones his innate killing skills and turns avenger.
An over the top crazy, insane out of its mind action film with a really good performance from James McAvoy, I have come up with a new word to describe a film FUF that's what wanted is, FUF stands for fucked up fun.
This film is one of the most ridiculously awesome things I have ever seen. And yes, that does include Shoot 'Em Up. Seriously, this is just brilliant. There's people curving bullets, people flipping cars then shooting people whilst still in said car, exploding rats and Angelina Jolie.
And I never though the day would come when I started measuring movie badassness on the merits of a character played by James McAvoy.
An adrenaline filled film, with a great performance from James McAvoy. It's just absolute fun, great cast, explosive soundtrack and entertaining action sequences.
When you think about truly entertaining "popcorn movies" of recent years, Timur Bekmambetov's Wanted fits the bill pretty well. Another comic-book adaptation to get the big screen treatment, this was as fast-paced as action films got back in 2008.
James McAvoy plays a downtrodden office worker who's life is passing him by. Bullied at his job, and derided by his cheating girlfriend, he suffers panic attacks as he struggles just to get through the day. His life though is about to change after he meets the stunning Angelina Jolie in a late night pharmacy who informs him that his father was an expert assassin and that his killer is now hunting him. That's the premise here, McAvoy is asked to…
I am for watching this film for a little while and I read some bad comments about it and I can't understand why all of the hate!? This film is totally cool! It has the most crazy impossible action scenes but all were awesome to watch! I had a lot of "wow" moments and it was a pure and good entertainment thriller from beginning to end!
James McAvoy passes from idiot to badass and he did a great job, again! He is a versatile actor and I really admire him. Angelina Jolie plays the type of character that is always perfect for her, so she was great too. Well and Morgan Freeman is Morgan Freeman.
For me this is definitely worth watching and I had a lot of fun!
"What the fuck have you done lately?.."
Exceptionally filmed scenes of exceptional action!
Not as dark as the graphic novel but still packs a bloody punch.
McAvoy proves he can be an A list star and Jolie finally brings out the superstar card she'd always threatened.
And she also shows her exceptional back side.
Wesley: You're not an assassin of fate, Sloan. You're just a thug who can bend bullets.

So ein bescheuerte Handlung, aber Angelina und Morgan machen den Film ansatzweise unterhaltsam.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
good thing that room at the end was FUCKING ROUND with EVERYONE STANDING IN A CIRCLE
The best use of slow motion. The best use of a body shield. The best in over-the-top.
This film bends physics like it is nobody's business with the bullet bending and the immortality but it is quite beautiful to watch. Revenge thrillers are always fun to watch as they will always leave the viewer satisfied. Annoying parts are when the loveable characters are unfortunately killed off for a cheap guilt-trip.
The casting is well done with James McAvoy, Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman with short appearances from Terence Stamp and Chris Pratt which are written in quite well and provide impact despite the short screen time.
The movies twists and turns are not on par with any Top 250 list but it is my go-to film for when i am bored. I could not count how many times i have watched this flick.
Didn't quite hold up on second viewing. Some of the action scenes are still breathtaking but everything else is a bit dull and ugly.
The first time I saw this movie, I enjoyed it immensely. The film has a hysterical energy from the get-go, making it fun, frantic and a little hard to follow. The action scenes are top-notch in terms of effects and style and is there anyone you’d rather watch in an action scene than Angelina Jolie? The story is ultimately kind of flimsy and I’m not a big fan of the last act, but nevertheless, "Wanted" provided a solid 2 hours of fast-paced entertainment and was a fine entry into the archive of popcorn action flicks.
I remember i was like 13 and my dad rented this movie and after like 10 mins he decided to take it out because it already showed like 2 sex scenes and my mom was pissed. Since that i always wanted to see the whole movie and shit when i finally saw it, it was a revelation! Incredible visuals, awesome action scenes and amazing acting from Angelina Jolie and James Mcavoy
Still a damn rad and movie with styyyyyyyle for days. Yea its dumb, but it takes its universe just as serious as it needs to and allows its characters to have enough fun defying everything Newton stands for that it balances out almost perfectly.
Super slick action direction on Timur Bekmambetov's part. The man is a seriously overlooked director. He's so damn good with taking scripts that sound like one note jokes and fleshing them out to the point where it feels wrong that he only has one sequel on record.
Wanted's kinda been forgotten by know but a lot of its dna has been carried over to action movies that came after.
Feels like we're overdue for a shitty zero budget TV adaptation of this that I cant be arsed to watch because of a good pilot and abysmal episode 2.
