I wouldn't go so far as to say Josh Harris was/is a genius - something this documentary clearly sets out to do right from the get go - but it's without question that he foretold the digital age that we are currently living in. It's an interesting documentary I guess, for the most part it's merely boring archival footage. Nonetheless, it's an informative look into a man who, during the '90s, was sat atop the internet.

This documentary about an early dot com pioneer named Josh Harris came out a few years and got a lot of critical acclaim. Harris was known to have really tapped into the loss of privacy that the internet would entail and to have depicted it through a number of large scale experiments. In many regards I almost wish that Harris had only been involved in a single project that the film could have examined rather than many, because each one of them seem like they could have been worthy of a feature. The documentary never really takes any position on the guy or any of the things he’s done, but it’s all interesting just the same.

Not a fantastic doco, but what a main character! Can't believe I've never heard of this guy. Josh Harris and his exploits will be incredibly interesting to anyone interested in social effects of technology working under the guise of art.

This documentary chronicles the barely credible rise-and-fall of Josh Harris, an especially wild-eyed internet visionary who went from wealthy and fêted guru to lonely webcam freak in a few short and hectic years. We Live In Public´s high point is a thorough examination of Quiet, a cyber-orwellian troglodyte dystopia which was created by Harris - and which has to be seen to be believed.

This review reportedly contains spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Not just a great doc but a great story or more specifically, a great main character, Josh Harris, a dot-com entrepreneur. In a nutshell, at the onset of the Internet (before people knew what the hell it was) Josh Harris predicted that our lives would become more and more public as this technology evolved. Like so many pioneers, the film leaves you wondering if he's crazy or a genius. Like so many geniuses though, he's probably both.

Great doc. Reminds me of a Scorcese mob film. In the beginning life's great, but by the end everything falls apart.

Very interesting, very disturbing. I can't believe I had never heard of Josh Harris before.

Thought provoking documentary on dot.com pioneer Josh Harris and the surveillance-as-art experiment 'Quiet'.
