"Can you feel it?! You've got to listen with your guts! This is where music happens! Do you understand what I'm saying?! In your guts! In your organs! AFRICAAAAH!" - Officer Duke
Imagine my disappointment when I thought I'd found a version of the full movie on YouTube, and it just turned out to be this short on loop for 85 minutes. Rip-off.
That being said, this is a rip-roaring 13 minutes. Essentially just an abusive music lesson on the artform of electro with a touch of Dupieux's regular surrealism thrown into the mix, it's an intensely amusing power-play between an abrasive Mark Burnham and a subdued Marilyn Manson. Ending on a cliffhanger, it's frustratingly short for someone who was expecting the full package.
It's a masterpiece.
It reminds me of a guy who got his balls caught in a washing machine.
J’ai vraiment essayé de l'écouter avec mes tripes, je l'jure, mais j’ai juste eu l’impression de regarder un gars qui aurait coincé ses couilles dans une machine à laver.
I figured I’d watch this before I watched Wrong Cops. It was funny and now I’ll put on the feature length movie.
I didn’t know it would be the same cop from Wrong or at least a nearly identical character. I’ll just assume this takes place in the exact same slice of the Dupieuxniverse.
A differently edited version of what we saw in the feature length film, this chapter focuses on the drug dealing cop that sells marijuana-stuffed rats and teaches a music lesson to a character portrayed by Marilyn Manson. Hilarious from beginning to end (and a bit more understandable, as watching the movie version I didn’t understand the almost-dead guy in the trunk was the neighbor who got shot when Manson fled his music lesson). There are more chapters on YouTube, I’ll have to explore them to see if they have additional scenes or if they’re just the movie but with a slightly different edition.
I don't know why I like Quentin Dupieux's movies but I just do.It's worth seeing.
I saw a preview cut of the first three chapters of this film, and oh my god, it's one of the wildest and funniest things I've ever seen. Can't wait for the rest.
