These are films that I've seen over the years that I've either liked or loved, but A LOT of people…
You, Me and Dupree
Two's company. Dupree's a crowd.
After standing in as best man for his longtime friend Carl Petersen, Randy Dupree loses his job, becomes a barfly and attaches himself to the newlywed couple almost permanently -- as their houseguest. But the longer Dupree camps out on their couch, the closer he gets to Carl's bride, Molly, leaving the frustrated groom wondering when his pal will be moving out.
An absolutely wretched toilet of a film, You, Me and Dupree attempts to be any one of at least 4 different types of films to find comedy somewhere. Unappealing and flat characters do likewise, performing any number of out-of-character behaviors searching for laughs that don't exist. It is the only comedy that I have ever seen that also sets up laughs and gags, but does not deliver on them. Where is Mandy? I suppose it is some kind of achievement to create people who are not funny, interesting, developed or sensical and that you can't care about. Kudos for that.
With advertising and prints costs, it also barely broke even in the US. Knowing all of this, if I were…
This was a weird rewatch bc I saw this when it was released in 2006 and I remembered loving it. However, upon this rewatch, I realized that I did not think it was very funny at all. Not the worst movie ever but certainly not good. This leads me to believe that in 2006 Owen Wilson had built up so much goodwill from wedding crashers in my eyes that I was ready to love whatever he did next, no matter how terrible.
Dupree: The doctor said most of my injuries are emotional.
I've racked my little Duprees!!
One of the worst movies I've ever seen.
By about the halfway point, this actually became quite a slog to get through. Dupree better not come back. Ever.
Surprisingly funny. The movie's just SO stupid, and it's iffy plot-wise, but it made me laugh. Big on Owen Wilson and Kate Hudson.
A silly movie with a few giggles. I love Matt Dillon and Kate Hudson is so beautiful.
The laughs are few and far between.
An absolutely terrible attempt at comedy. I won't even do it the justice of writing a full review. Suffice to say, everything about this film is awful. The story is inane, the acting is terrible, the humour is forced, and the characters are annoying. Owen Wilson is quickly proving that he's the most unfunny of the Frat Pack bunch - he's completely lost here without Vince Vaughn or Ben Stiller to support him. Matt Dillon & Kate Hudson are phoning it in, and Michael Douglas terribly overacts - he's obviously just picking up a paycheck here. The story goes from mildly amusing to just plain bad in no time at all, and the laughs are few and far between. I'm just glad I didn't have to pay for it. Truly awful.
He sleeps on their couch! Isn't that hilarious?!
This is the movie that drove Owen Wilson to attempt suicide, probably.
I have been collecting Blu Ray's since 2009 and this list contains all the Blu Rays I have till now.
