What better way to spend Rob Lowe's birthday than by watching one of his 80s coming-of-age classics. Especially when you throw Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves into the mix.
So this movie was unintentionally hilarious. I never know if that's because most 80s movies didn't age well, or if they were already considered bad back then, but nobody cared because they got an extended scene with Rob Lowe's naked backside as compensation.
This movie gave me my first moment of unadulterated joy when it was revealed that Rob Lowe's character's name was indeed named Dean Youngblood. Good choice.
The Hockey scenes were pretty funny, but I feel the same when I watch clips from actual Hockey games from the 80s,…

Rob Lowe's sweat glands produce snowflake-sized beads of perspiration. The original sparkling white vampire. (This movie is not about vampires.)

I wish it were still the 80s so I could actually like this movie, not just like it ironically.

oh my rob, arent you just soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sexy

Not bad, Swayze was fucking awesome but he was in everything he did

It's like The Mighty Ducks, with Swayze and boobs, instead of Pacey and Goldberg. And Neo. The fucking One is in this movie.
Decent story, hot 80's female lead with sports and action. Bosh! Recommended viewing right here.

An 80's cult classic. Rob Lowe is excellent in this

A buff Rob Lowe in a movie about ice hockey. What's not to like? Oh yeah, except it's full of cliches and despite all his on-ice training, he can't really skate.
