Zero Day follows two teenagers, Andre and Cal, as they document their planning and preparation for a killing spree they desire to do at their high school, as well as documenting many other casual events throughout the months leading up to their attack. The film is in the style of found footage but it is neither forced nor nauseating, as it makes complete sense in the logic of the film (it is based off of similar tapes made by the Columbine shooters, Dylan and Eric) and is well implemented.

When it comes to high school massacres, I see three successful ways to go: the way of Elephant, an artsy (in the good way) film, exploring a gruesome subject with subtlety; the way of Bowling for Columbine, the famous documentary which tries to find out why this happens; and the way of 2007's Klass, one of the best films I've ever seen, on which we get shown exactly the reasons why people do this and, in my case, get VERY happy at the end when justice is done.
