FilmApe’s review:
After watching this film I feel safe to assume that when director Timur Bekmambetov saw Passion of the Christ he referred to it as being too light hearted and jokey. While the basic idea of the film is interesting, the execution is terrible. This movie was an extreme slog to get through simply because it is never ever fun. Also the fact that the film features pornagraphic use of bullet time doesn't help much either. Neither does the terrible CG, boring performances, and uninspired, borderline offensive story, for that matter.
In summation, this film was exactly what I expected it would be.
Thanks, I'll skip the theatre viewing on this one.
Yeah me too, I was debating on either seeing this film or Brave in cinemas this weekend. And with the overwhelmingly negative reviews this is getting, I guess I'm going to see Brave.
I actually thought this might be fun. Fuck new genre films are dead! That's way I've been watching so much 80's and 90's shit.
Timur has got to be one of the laziest directors working today. Everything in this film is CG. It might as well be a mocap film.
I watched Night Watch and... wanted to kill myself.
I hated Wanted also.
@grooveman: I think you loaned me Nightwatch and didn't even finish it. All I can remember is someone turning into a jungle cat in an apartment building, or something. That is the only other Timur B film that I have seen and I will henceforth be avoiding all his work.
*I* before didn't above.
I think he did 9 too. Which also sucked.
