First off, I have not seen the original, but if it's really better then THIS, dang I can't wait to see the original. This was a great movie. I went in just suspecting a horror vampire movie, but was pleasantly surprised to find that there was a mix of horror and was a friendship story. I don't want to give to much a way. It's got a good mix of drama but also horror so that the first part of the movie your not sure if you trust the vampire. Note: THIS IS NOT ANYTHING LIKE TWILIGHT!!!! They stay close to the vampire lore. You see her attack people. She can't go out in sunlight cause she will die. There are moments where your not sure if you can trust her when she's being friendly towards the main character. But there are moments where you feel bad for her as in this version of vampires, if a vampire bits someone but doesn't kill them they become a vampire, weather they want to or not. It's a great movie. Solid Recommend.
I'd encourage you to watch the original but as a remake this one is pretty outstanding
The original is plot wise identical (though it has a group of drinking buddies instead of the cops), but tonally more art film than horror; I prefer the remake.
