Definitely much more of a movie than the painfully mainstream marketing would have you believe, Magic Mike is a beautifully shot yet simply told story.

Tatum is charming enough to carry the weight of he film and McConaughey adds a little welcome sheen (literally) as his mentor of sorts. If I had one criticism though, I could have done with just a touch more character development as I felt I only half got to know everyone involved.
